I don't want anything medicated or from the GP I just want to find a good shampoo and conditioner that doesn't flare my scalp up and also makes my hair nice! My hair is dry and coloured too am I doomed or can someone with similar issues recommend something?
(No homemade rinses etc please) :)

Hopes Relief?

snowplop · 15/04/2016 19:59

I use the Neutrogea 2 in 1 when my scalp flares up... I find it very gentle compared with the other T-gel products.

DP swears by L'Oréal Elvive Selenium something or other in the black bottle with the orange top. We buy in bulk from Amazon.

I've also had success with DGJ melon hairjuice shampoo and conditioner which I think is SLS free and smells lovely.

Having said all that, the one thing that really keeps my scalp in check is not colouring it every 6 weeks. I stopped dying it in January and now have a beautifully clear scalp (underneath all my grey/brown frizz) Confused

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 15/04/2016 20:00

Is it seborrhaic dermatitis? Moogo scalp cream is formulated for that. As another pp said, you could use that first then wash out with the shampoo. I like the leave-in conditioner as well.

itsgoingtoofast · 15/04/2016 20:04

Im using garnier ultimate blends for sensitive scalp just now. That or the body shop ginger shampoo are working for me at the moment. I really struggle to find one that doesn't flare my scalp up too

WalkingZed · 15/04/2016 20:05

MooGoo is very good.

Are you drinking apple cider vinegar?

My itchy scalp cleared up since I started drinking vinegar.

NewYearSameMe · 15/04/2016 20:11

I used to get quite bad scalp psoriasis, I use Aveda shampoo which costs a lot but I only need to use a small amount so I reckon I don't spend that much more than I would on ordinary shampoo. I use Aussie condition, but the conditioner never touches my scalp.

I think Krill oil supplements have helped my skin generally too.

geekaMaxima · 15/04/2016 20:35

Faith in Nature fragrance-free shampoo is very gentle on eczema-prone skin, and has one of the shortest ingredients lists I've seen for a shampoo. They also do a conditioner if you want one.

Lots of health food shops stock it, but you can also buy it online direct.

Liara · 15/04/2016 20:39

I've found urtekram rose shampoo the mildest for my scalp.

Oddly since using it I can use pretty much any conditioner, which is good as with all the natural ones it made my hair very dry.

Marking place, thank you for this post OP

This www.hollandandbarrett.com/shop/product/dead-sea-spa-magik-mineral-shampoo is brilliant. Best psorasis product I know off.

5608Carrie · 15/04/2016 20:48

sorry link fail but its called Magik Dead sea salt mineral shampoo

Chocrock · 15/04/2016 20:56

JASON dandruff shampoo is really good, the one in the brown bottle.

Sanchar · 15/04/2016 21:00

I've never heard of, or experienced, FiN shampoo being harsh.
DD has eczema and still gets cradle cap every now and then, and it's fine on her.

Naicecuppatea · 15/04/2016 21:06

You can theoretically use any conditioner your hair gets on with as conditioner should not come in contact with your scalp. So don't worry about getting a matching one.

ItsAllGoodMan · 15/04/2016 21:10

This shampoo by Shea moisture really helps my scalp. There's a conditioning masque that goes with it too

Starstruck2016 · 15/04/2016 21:14

I had a bad reaction to the silver toner shampoo with acute eczema and it never completely cleared. I used neutrogena first.
The Body Shop do a range without the main allergens in I find good. Think it's called rainforest range.

Indecisivejo · 15/04/2016 21:20

Wow so many replies I'm not going to remember them all so big apologies if I don't comment on yours but I appreciate them all!

All of you recommending moogoo, trust me I persevered I thought they were the answer to my prayers but my scalp or hair do not like them at all.

Faith in nature contains ammonium laurel sulphate which is actually meant to be harsher than sls!

Ultimate blends is another one that wrecked my scalp even though it was meant to be for a delicate scalp! Hmm

Jason dried my hair out like straw.

Magik Dead Sea one I didn't try because my mum used it and said it was awful but will take a look thank you.

Really dislike anything rose scented, I'm very smell sensitive and my nose doesn't like rose :(

I sound really miserable and ungrateful but I promise I'm not (well not ungrateful but I am miserable ha ha)

This stuff did wonders for my scalp, no more itching or flaky dryness and my hair seems to really like it. I now mix up using this and their shampoo bar which is equally amazing Smile

Uphillanddowndale12 · 15/04/2016 21:30

I get this and some sls free shampoos irritate it, I too have bought products because they're sls free/ organic/ natural etc but through trial and error I've found out that some of the ingredients used in these products instead can be equally irritating - for me it's beeswax some of the emulsifiers and some chemicals that make a lather like betaine.
I find purenuffstuff psoriasis blend or exzema blend and elenas nature collection - made specifically for eczema suffers work for me

Sunbeam18 · 15/04/2016 21:35

E45 shampoo from Boots is great

Birnamwood · 15/04/2016 21:57

Ive suffered from dandruff and/or psoriasis all my life. I learned to put up with it and used a medicated shampoo which didn't quite get rid but it was more manageable. I could also only use one type of conditioner which made may hair lank and greasy

Until I read a thread on here and it WA recommended that someone use this shampoo to clear up a nasty bout of psoriasis. And it bloody worked. So I bought some and to this day I haven't had dandruff, psoriasis or and itchy scalp. It's fucking amazing.

Loreal elvive for men anti dandruff intensive shampoo. Black bottle, orange top.

Try it Smile

ShotgunNotDoingThePans · 15/04/2016 22:31

Actually I used the Dead Sea Magic shampoo for years - at least five I think. It was the only think I'd found that didn't produce the flakes so I stuck with it, but then it stopped working for me (in the way you can suddenly become intolerant to something you've used for ages), so I searched and found Moogoo. Maybe it'll work the other way round for you Smile.
Think I liked the BS Rainforest for a while as well, but kept forgetting which one worked! Blush

hugoagogo · 15/04/2016 22:32

I like pure shampoo and conditioner from waitrose.

RobberBride · 15/04/2016 22:39

This L'oreal Elvive stuff (mentioned up thread by pp) is amazing. They discontinued the women's version a few years ago and tons of people on this board (inc me) were in a severe panic til we discovered the men's version was the same. It is the only thing that sorted my scalp psoriasis, T Gel etc all work for a bit and then make my hair look crap and the flakes come back. www.tesco.com/groceries/product/details/?id=278563224

parissont · 15/04/2016 22:45

I second the E45 recommendation
