Playsuits?

Right: am I bonkers for considering a playsuit this summer? I am in my early 40s. I am half-ashamed to ask as I am expecting a chorus of 'mutton dressed as lamb' answers. But, just out of curiosity, has anyone seen a classier number that might suit a lady of a certain age? Especially if it was in blue?
Thanks.

I don't think you're bonkers at all, I love a playsuit. I've just never found one that fits me, as I'm long in the torso and they kind of cut me in two in a horrendously unflattering way.

I think, to look good in one, it massively helps if you've got good legs. They look great on lithe, toned women IMO ( not me, my legs are huge!)

The other thing I like about them is that they're more practical than short dresses when it comes to running round after children.

Another who loves a playsuit. Also you age a bit older, actually so I don't think they are "mutton" (hate that misogynist phrase) but I may be corrected by the MN police.

New Look did loads last year (including several blue ones) but haven't looked this year. Agree with Running that they are more practical than short dresses. I also wear them with tights before the weather gets hot.

This is expensive but I bet it's lovely. Baujken material is usually gorgeous and there are often discount codes floating around.

I think as you get older getting something in good fabric and cut well is probably the key to feeling comfortable in it - I don't think early 40s is too old for one at all.

I'd love to wear this but my legs are my worst feature so can't justify the money on something that would accentuate them :(

Agree. I bought my first playsuit last year (on the wrong side of 40) - its in a denim material, not overly short (though they do need to be shortish), has short sleeves so the leg-on-show is counterbalanced by modesty on the top half. I wear it with a narrow belt.
I may be buying more for (gulp) Ibiza this year...

Oh fantastic. Thank you SO much everyone. I had never heard of Baujken before... BUT that is a very encouraging answer!

And yes, I do agree about 'mutton' - I think I wrote my OP before I had drunk enough tea. Apologies.
