Does anywhere do light soft down jackets with vertical quilting?

I love the feel of them but fear I will look like my mum's old immersion heater in the ones with horizontal stitching.

Vertical quilting would all fall down to the bottom... You need a RAB jacket, they are tightly quilted diamond type shapes and look good while keeping warm.

Try the RAB Arete... But it's a down jacket, they are practical but not flattering.
