Selling a wedding dress?

Has anyone done this? Did you do it via a website or local ad? I'm considering selling mine and not sure what the best way to go about it is. Thanks in advance.

It seems virtually impossible mine was over £2000 and I could g get £100 for it

You can put it on ebay but don't expect to get that much for it. I will be selling mine soon but only paid £400 for it in the first place so not too bothered if I don't get much. It's been altered on the length so any woman taller than me would probably be put off as it'd be too short (it's floor lenght)
I think if you sell it with returns accepted it is more likely to sell, but of course you would need to accept the return if it doesn't fit or they don't like it.

Have you seen www.stillwhite.co.uk? There are quite a few on there but I haven't ever sold a dress so can't vouch for them.

I sold mine on preloved a couple of years ago and got £500 for it. If was free to list and I didn't have to pay any commission which is why I listed it there instead of eBay . Think it helped that it was still a current dress, so someone had seen it in a bridal shop but didn't want to pay the full whack. I included quite a few pictures on the listing as well, including close ups and lots of details about the condition etc which helped to sell it.

Mine was on pre loved for ages but didn't sell £1500 new and I wanted £500. In the end I decided to keep it, although I'm not sure why! Couldn't be bothered to sell I suppose and DDs might use it for dress-up. It has no sentimental value as I'm divorced now.

Hmm... Perhaps I'll list it and see what happens. It's taking up space and it might be worth a go at selling. I like the idea of free listing!

I'm torn between selling mine straight after the wedding, and keeping it a while for sentimental reasons. I'll never get to wear it again, unless it's just around the house for the sake of it!

Hmmm, my head says to sell it straight away as it will be current season stock, but my heart will find it hard to let it go!

I second sellmyweddingdress.com my bf sold her £2,000 dress for £1,000 it was perfect condition sold straight after honeymoon and cleaning and no alterations

DD sold hers on pre loved for 50% of cost, but again was done straight after wedding whilst it was still a current item in the bridal stores. She hadn,t had it cleaned (only a little marked on underneath edges of the small train) but that was reflected in the cost, and the bride that bought it was delighted.

Preloved would be my port of call too. Especially local and say that you would allow them to try on. It would help if you got the name of a proper local wedding dress seamstress who would tailor it to fit them.

If you do the homework....selling is so much easier ;-)

Preloved aNd got close to what i paid, depends on the designer though. Vera wang etc sell very well, less fancy brands less so.

Lots of food for thought! It's a sassi holford dress which got discontinued so maybe it's worth a try without really expecting anything. It's taking up quite a lot of space so I'd be happy to just get a few hundred quid for it. I think I'll try preloved.
