Ted baker sizing?

True to size, small fit or generous? If you are between sizes - size up? Was considering dresses for a wedding I have in August. Currently on the 5:2 so should be a size 10 by then but then again I have a tummy. I am currently a small 12. Just wondered what sizes are like. TIA

A bit on the big side I'd say.

It will depend partly on the style of the dress.

Their trousers and skirts run big, their tops and shirts come up small.

Jackets coats and dresses are pretty true to size though.

Thank you :) Its hard when ordering online. I may at some point go into town to have a look. Its good to know. I have a while yet but keep looking. Love some of their fresh flowery prints. :)

Hi green I'd say TB is on the small side! I take a 12 in most these days but had to get a TB sz 5 (thats supposedly a 16!) recently for this dress. the lady inthe shop says TB always comes up small and they sell out of the larger sizes fast ( but she may have been being nice so I'd buy it of course.....Wink)

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 21:48

That is a beautiful dress laska!
I always think designer stuff seems to always be on the small side. I'm sure she was being truthful.
I am sure you looked great. Am tempted by that dress. Love it in black. Less so in the white. Has an oriental feel to it.

It's really great green I wore it to a wedding and felt fab ...

Laska5772 · 07/04/2016 21:54

You'd probably be ok inthe smaller size ( try a 4?) I do have a fair bit of boobage.. (36e after MN bra intervention!) the 4 fitted but was a little tight on the bust . The 5 is a little bit big on hips for me (but was really not that much bigger than the 4 ) .. I may get it altered before i wear it again

BiftasWifta · 07/04/2016 21:54

I'm wearing this dress for a wedding this weekend, it's a size 3 and fits perfectly so I'd say their sizing is spot on.

36 F in fact ( though I dont want to boast !!)

Laska5772 · 07/04/2016 22:03

No overall agreement ! Looks like you'll might be best to go to the shops in person to try then.. ( or order several sizes and send back..)

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 22:03

Well I am an F cup but a 32F. I hate having a bust gggrrr Its happened with age. I used to be a double A ffs!!!!

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 22:05

Yes probably best. Have time. Could also wait until the summer sales tbh but its a bit risky considering the wedding is in August but hell, probably regret buying this early and it may get too big for me!!!

Laska5772 · 07/04/2016 22:08

.. I hate mine too! .. (would love to be a nice neat B.....)

BiftasWifta · 07/04/2016 22:09

Mine too! I got an eBay bargain thankfully Smile

JustEat314 · 07/04/2016 22:10

Mine have shrunk to nothing with age. 32 b and that's being optimistic. I have a size 2 ted baker top and I'd be about an 8-10 up top

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 22:10

Must look on ebay.

Lots of people love having a bust. It makes me feel fat. I hate it.

OP posts:
Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 22:13

Wish mine would shrink with age. Sadly I think its age and pregnancies. Had my last baby at 43!!!

At 32F and a 10/12 id try a 3 even in that dress.. It is slim fitting though , my trouble was the bust and the band around the underbust (which is not stretchy ).

So I bought the 5 because even if I lose more weight (and I'd like to) im not going to get smaller ribs! the shop I bought it in (independent) has a good alterations service, so I may get the skirt taken in a little , but it is a very narrow fit ..

If it helps to visualise what it may be like for fit .. I am quite top heavy (12 in Boden but can be 14 on top in some sizes) and have fairly slim hips (10 in most jeans..though they could be vanity sizes) and 5'6 ... it is quite a long dress on me, maybe 4 inches below the knee .it definately needs high heels

Greengardenpixie · 07/04/2016 22:57

Thanks laska Star It may be just a bit too long on me though. I am 5.5. I agree with the heels. Think I may go in and see for myself. Thanks everyone Flowers
