Another sunscreen one - sorry...

Had a melanoma removed at Christmas and am under strict instructions to wear sunscreen all of the time.

I have tried the Sunsense daily face stuff, and I hate it. I don't like the tint and I don't like the fact I can feel it on my skin.

The Sunsense standard one is fine for my body, and my face if Im going to be out in full sun for hours.

I need to find something broad spectrum factor 30+ that I am happy to put on my face every morning.

-Not tinted (I would rather look ghostly)

• I don't wear makeup so that's not an issue.

-Moisturising (I don't want to have to put two things on my face in the morning)

• Not sticky feeling, and doesnt rub off on clothing

-Doesn't end up in my eyes/make them sting -Pref one application for a full day -Available from Amazon.

• Doesn't bring me out in spots and sensitive (my scar gets itchy very easily)
• That my dermatologist doesn't suck her teeth at.

I know this probably isn't even possible, but if it is I figure you will know. Thanks

Biore uv watery gel. It's AMAZING! Rubs in and you can't feel it at all. I'm about to order some more.

I've seen the Biore reccomended somewhere else - is it Moisturising?

can't you wear normal sunscreen rather than farty french beauty counter stuff?

I like the Ambre Solaire sports stuff, admittedly a farty french name but works and isn't greasy. Real protection, not 'city block' for those that waddle from office to lunch and never go outside.

Yy to the Biore one. Or Hada Labo. But from Amazon, Biore is about £7 for a small tube.
It doesn't have a white cast that all others seem to, and it's not greasy and doesn't bring me out in spots.
But it does have alcohol in and it's not moisturising, so you will need a separate moisturiser.

Anyone know how long sunscreen lasts ? Someone left some Ultrasun at my house last summer and I wonder if i can still use it ?

Ultra sun in particular has a really long shelf life. Something to do I think with how it's packaged. I think it's 2 years once opened? Whereas normal sun cream is 6 months I think. I definitely use it for two summers in a row with no probs.

I do want a proper sun screen - it's just I really can't cope with feeling stuff on my skin - I find every sunscreen I try just too thick on my face, and if I'm wearing it every day I need to be comfortable.

I tried that once, never agin, it stung like buggery when it got in my eyes (and sunscreen always gets in my eyes)

Sunsense is pretty good - they print an exp date on the bottle and the cream is good until then, even if opened.

P.S. I plumped for Ultrasun in the end - hopefully it will work better for me....

I sympathise, I can't find a sunscreen that doesn't irritate my eyes either, no matter how much I try to keep it well away. I had the same advice after I had a mole taken off my nose 8 years ago but after lots of trial, error and expense I must admit that I tend to just go for a moisturiser with spf now. Simple do one that's a 30 but it stings my eyes, but worth a try as its only a fiver or so and you wouldn't need to use two products.

Oh, forgot to say, I use Liz Earle eye cream (not the new Superskin one) as it doesn't irritate my eyes at all and has an SPF10.

ItsAll, I sympathise , also can't stand feeling anything on my face. Sensitive skin = sun damage likely, I suppose.

Only sunscreen that doesn't irritate my eyes. Also not greasy or chalky like most of them.

I like Clinique Super City Block 40 but it is quite expensive.

La Roche posay do a nice one, tinted factor 50 and it's OK for sensitive skin. Also water resistant so lasts well. It's a wee bit dark for my ghostly face, but fine with makeup on top.

I had a BCC removal last year and have been wearing La Roche-Posay factor 50 which I chose after reading this- www.theguardian.com/fashion/2014/aug/10/best-holiday-beauty-sunscreens-spf-sali-hughes. I don't have sensitive skin but so far so good. It's small enough to carry around if I'm worried about being in the sun and want to reapply.

Watching with interest as I'm after a sunscreen or moisturiser with high spd for face and neck that is ok for my oily skin with or without makeup.

La Roche Posay factor 50 is great. Light, non-greasy and good either under makeup or with no makeup.

I use Elizabeth Arden eight hour cream factor 50 . It can be hard to find but I love it. You do have to like the smell of eight hour cream though

Can the poster who always uses the phrase "farty french brands" please just stop because it's starting to really irritate me!
The ones you recommend are full of perfume and are really bad on sensitive skin.
Find a new phrase ffs!

I like the kiehl's one, spf50 with PA+++ (USA equivalent of 5* UVA rating).

I don't like the Biore ones or any of the Korean/Japanese ones I've tried. Yes, they feel lightweight on the skin but it's due to high alcohol content (which my skin hates).
