rubber Melissa shoes ..worth it ?

I like the look of the Melissa Vivienne Westwood shoes but do think that £100 plus is expensive for what's basically rubber ballet flats .
I see loads of people wearing them so I'm assuming they must be comfortable and I'm after something to bridge the gap between uggs and flip flops now that it's sunny .
So have you bought any ? If so are they worth it ?
Thanks

I have shockingly high heeled Melissa Viv W shoes and tbh I love them. They are surprisingly comfy to wear.

weirdsister · 06/04/2016 14:54

Aren't they just posh crocs?
I have some of the ballet crocs and they are comfy but can get sweaty.

HazelMcWitch · 06/04/2016 14:56

I had some and loved them but couldn't wear them because they made my feet so sweaty that I slid about in them.

They're softer than crocs, and they smell nicer. My feet don't get sweaty, but that's probably because they have proper insoles unlike crocs.

I have crocs too, but they're for the beach (not wearing Mels on the beach!).

CallMeMousie · 06/04/2016 14:59

I've got the heeled ones and they've been my staple wedding shoes for years - comfy and a bit different. Not sure I'd go for the flats as fully enclosed might be a bit sweaty though!

weirdsister · 06/04/2016 15:06

What are the insoles made from? I think they look very pretty. Quite tempted myself now!

bluejasmin · 06/04/2016 17:43

Thank you , I did just stop a mum on the school run and she said the same .
I'm going to order some now Grin

I love the look of them but mine really aren't comfortable and they have stretched and lost their shape quickly, but maybe it's my feet?! I wore them on holiday in Vancouver and I could have cried I was so uncomfortable, I had to go and buy emergency trainers! Mine are the normal flat ballet style in a suede finish. Hope you get on better with yours!

frolific · 06/04/2016 23:41

They are OK generally, but useless if you get caught in the rain. You are better off barefoot as they get too slippery and slimy and impossible to walk on.
They smell nice though!

lemonade30 · 07/04/2016 00:08

They come up small too.

I've just sold mine on eBay as I admitted defeat, they pinched my toes unbearably.

TrollTheRespawnJeremy · 07/04/2016 11:54

Another vote for unbearable sweaty feet in the flats. And because they're rubber they don't hold you in them so my foot would just slide right out of them.

I love looking at them but I can only wear them in winter. Bit of a waste :(

NorbertDentressangle · 07/04/2016 11:57

Sorry but another vote for the "they just look like posh crocs"

Sparklycat · 07/04/2016 12:18

Oh I so wanted the white pair with red hearts for my wedding but everyone I spoke to said they would look silly Sad

Jaimx86 · 07/04/2016 12:23

Ooo no I like them Sparkly.

bluejasmin · 07/04/2016 13:40

Thanks jaimx86 I like those and they have my size .

Sparklycat I had the pink with red hearts at my wedding - they looked fabulous! (see picture). My friend had the white ones, I love them!

Oh so lovely banana!! They do look gorgeous!

gracefull · 07/04/2016 17:28

I got a pair of grey/pink Vivienne Westwood and Melissa flats in the sale for £45. You can find them cheaper if you look around. Definitely worth it. Generally comfortable. However, as previous posters have said they are sweaty in the heat. I would wear them in summer but not on a very hot day as they do rub. Bonus is and the rubber is impregnated with perfume so smells pretty, even if they are sweaty.

Heyheyheygoodbye · 07/04/2016 17:32

I wore the red heart ones for my wedding and I loved them and so did everyone else! Random passers-by (it was a city wedding) commented how much they liked them too :)

They still look (and smell!) amazing and they were very comfy.

ChablisTyrant · 07/04/2016 17:35

My sister loves them but they ripped up my feet and felt horrible. I agree they come up very small. I consider myself a small 38 but they hurt my feet.

NattyGolfJerkin · 07/04/2016 17:36

I just think sweat & blisters

cally0 · 07/04/2016 17:41

I've got the VW lady dragon gold bow heels and a pair of 'Mel/Melissa' heels.

I love both pairs! My Mel ones aren't as comfy as the VW but that's purely down to heel height alone!

Don't get sweaty feet or blisters with either. If you're worried you could always wear with nude rights. My lady dragon ones have a big bow at the front so only a little bit of toe peeps out, so you can get away with tights

They are also scented!

Do it.

Xxx
