The one thing that helps you feel 'put together' ?

At the ripe old age of 48 I have recently bought myself my first lip stick.
It's Chanel and am utterly in love with it. When ever I wear it I feel , well, put together and confident, no matter what else I'm wearing. ( that and my ray bans!)
Can't believe I've gone these years thinking a good lippie would be wasted on my thin lips.
I'd be interested to know if anyone else has that one thing that makes all the difference?

I feel more put together when I straighten my naturally wild hair. I love BB cream for a natural but smoother less blotchy daytime look. Yes def to a bright lipstick. I also agree with good underwear, perfume and a fab coat.

That's alright Remus, I look like Velma from Scooby Doo.

One thing that has really helped me is getting my colours done. It is really helpful to know what colours work for you, especially as you get older. The wrong colours can really drain your face but the right ones made you look more healthy.

It also saves time and money as when you go into a shop you know which colours to go for.

I had it done over ten years ago and I now have a wardrobe of clothes that I know are flattering and which co ordinate with each other.

Money well spent! Smile

Yy to getting your colours 'done' I'm evangelical about it. Life changing stuff for feeling put together, especially when combined with the 'style' element day.

Other than wearing your best colours & styles, I agree to having nails done in a suitable shade (though I rarely do), sorting out eyebrows & lash tint if necessary.

I'm v pale so tinted moisturiser/bb cream & a little blush with a little eyeliner & lipstick sorts me out.

Scarf & shades cover a multitude.
I'm always dripping in jewels--I wear too much jewellry to be stylish I think but I luffs it. :)

So many comments on makeup and accessories. For me, it's the confidence you get from healthy living and lots of fresh air. Makes you look alive and no need to colour your face or lips or eyebrows in at all as the elements do it for you. Occasional nivea on my face to get over frost damaged skin and I'm good to go.

A good haircut.

A blow dry

miffle I'm with you. I may be 43 but don't feel old enough for a blazer. I searched on eBay yesterday but they all looked too grown up for me!!
I'm going to try and look more elegant. Don't think being overweight helps though.

Ennie not everyone is as lucky as you. I have debilitating illness that limits the time I spend outdoors and being physical. Seriously. I wish I was able to draw all I need from healthy living and fresh air. I'd save a fortune. :o

-Washed hair
-clean, uncreased clothes and shoes that go together
-perfume

Lipstick often makes me feel self- conscious, especially since I've noticed my first signs of aging, deepish nasolabial folds. Am only mid thirties!

I discovered mousse foundation at the ripe old age of 49. I used to hate foundation and never wore it because it felt like it was smearing down my face, but a Lisa Eldridge video got me all curious and I tried a moussey one and was totally converted Smile
