Is it just me or are Converse cripplingly painful?

I literally cannot walk anywhere in Converse without getting foot pain due to hard sole and no arch support. They also rub heels and toes. Is it just me?! I have no problems with any other shoes - my feet are not an awkward shape or size. Are Superga any better for comfort?

coco - they are a nightmare. My mum is similar too. No-one else in the family though.
My friends laugh at how bad they are; I'm well known for the issues I have with them!

I don't think Converse were ever designed to be walked in. Mine always rip on the heel lining causing blisters. I still have two pairs: one high, one low, but rarely were them. I agree that Dunlop are good, Nike Air are even better and DMs are fab.

DH had plantar fascilititus which he believes were caused by wearing Converse, so I sold them on eBay.

Ooh, fitflop sneakers!! Thanks to whoever posted the link. I'm glad my OP has gathered some kindred soft-footed spirits (and identified the crazy skechers haters Smile).

I had plantar fascilitis and have arch supports which I put in my converse. Have been wearing them all day today, no problem. I haven't got particularly narrow feet either.

I have some fitflop red leather trainers from a few years ago, very plain. They are very comfy too, but you use your muscles differently, so should build up to wearing them all day. I have pulled my back with them before, as I wore them all day too soon. Very nice on your feet, though. I like my birkies, too, I have arizona sandals and walk in them loads in summer.

I have skinny feet and they still hurt mine.I have some ace pairs with patterns on but do find they hurt.

I have really wide feet but find my converse really comfy!

Oldraver · 05/04/2016 18:58

I have never bought Converse due them being very flat inside. I recently bought some Supaga expecting to have to take them back and they have some support

Kirriemuir · 05/04/2016 19:03

I can only wear mine for short periods of time.

2 years ago I wore them from r an afternoon shopping in the bullring. Got back to the hotel and took my shoes off. Lay on the bed and crossed my legs over. My toes rubbed against each other and the pain was excruciating. Had a look and under my little toes were huge, liquid filled blisters. The full size of my toes. I had to burst them but they were really painful.

I prefer Superdry ones these days. Still have my converse as they are OK for a quick walk but nothing more than an hour.

They are possibly the most uncomfortable shoes i own, except for a pair of R&B slingback that make me weep.

Coldtoeswarmheart · 05/04/2016 19:11

I've got Dunlops too. They're comfy enough to wear all day and I even got a half-size.

FrownsAndDimples · 05/04/2016 19:59

I live in converse. I have the dainty low pro ones. One leather pair. However bought a normal pair last month and they killed me. \instant blisters at the back of the heel. How bizarre.

bishboschone · 05/04/2016 20:40

I buy ev ox player converse . I cannot stand the normal ones as the back is hard and it hurts my heel ..

Tequilamockinbird · 05/04/2016 20:45

I live in Converse, walked 65 miles in them whilst on holiday a couple of weeks back Shock.

However, I haven't always loved them. My first pair cut my heels to shreds. I then read somewhere (could have been MN actually?) that men's Converse were wider and a more comfortable fit. It's true!

I buy men's now and currently have 4 pairs in different colours. Most comfy shoes I've ever owned.

Mominatrix · 05/04/2016 20:57

I walk about five miles a day due to dDog and I have to agree that Converse are not comfortable - at all. I find the shoe to be too cold ( I don't like wearing socks), not supportive enough, and irritating. Obviously, the most comfortable shoes are my running ones, but second are Supergas (they have an arch support which does not exist on my converse), and then would be y Church's loafers -seriously. i have walked for hours in the Church's barefoot and no aches, pains or blisters - and they look very smart.

RunswickBay · 05/04/2016 22:23

Annarose and pompom stans are comfy but hard leather! Always feels nice to ge them off!
