Clarifying shampoo rcommendstion

Does any one have a recommendation for a good clarifying shampoo? I've never used one before but it'd probably be good for my hair

I used to use Aveda Detoxifying (they have one called Invati Exfoliationg Shampoo now) before dyeing my hair. (When I had money , before I had DC )

Now using BodyShop Rainforest or Bodyshop Ginger (both are too drying to use as a regular shampoo for me ) as a pre-dye to remove gunk and product.

Avalon organics (they sell it in Waitrose)

Boots do one. Or good old Vosene works just as well.

Neutrogena or Redken do a good one.

Redjen cleansing cream. Amazing and you alternate it with your regular shampoo.

If you have terrible silicone/product build up then Vosene anti dandruff is your friend.
For squeaky clean hair I think Tresemme deep cleanse shampoo is as good as any expensive brands.

Have just used the tresemme one for the first and it's pretty good. Got my hair squeaky clean after a week of vomiting/travelling/sick children. And got an extra day out of it.

Second Avalon organics has a fab lemony scent

I adore Avalon. The lemony smell is so clean and fresh and it definitely gets rid of the build up in my hair - serum, dry shampoo, heat protector spray etc

Thanks for the recommendations. I can't tell if I have silicone build up. What would it look like?

Bad silicone build up would make your hair lank and heavy, look greasy and have parts that feel oily or sticky to touch.
Mild build up would be your hair not feeling very clean after washing, often greasy roots and dry ends and looking limp.

Some hair types look amazing with silicone, especially thick or curly hair so I wouldn't avoid products with silicone completely if you like the way they make your hair shine, but you need to regularly strip it from the hair's surface to avoid it building up.

Clarifying shampoos do strip a lot of oil from your hair so I would recommend using a rich conditioner afterwards.

Ok so I don't think I have silicone build up. I have straight but thick hair that generally looks shiny. It'd probably benefit from a clear up though

When I wanted to change from home dyed dark brown back to blonde highlights, my hairdresser told me to use a clarifying shampoo. I asked her what she'd recommend and braced myself for the hard sell of Kerastase that they sold (it was quite a high end salon)

I kid you not, she told me to just use washing up liquid.

So I lashed on the Fairy in the shower. No bad side effects, apart from a larger than normal amount of suds!

Pantene do one and its only 5 quid (unlike the 12 quid ones in Boots). Can get in Tesco, seems to have done the job. Normally I would avoid Pantene like the plague due to excessive silicones, but this one has none, obviously.

Vosene. Costs about £2. Or Fairy Liquid as mentioned above will do the job too!
