H&M a revelation

Is it me or has H&M upped its game recently?

I used to work in a small town with Oasis, department store etc now my only stores are River Island, Primark etc and H&M plus huge Westfield a 10 minute bus ride away...

Anyway I keep finding the odd gem, dresses etc, jewellery in H&M. Even a nightshirt I bought there is excellent. It also mostly seems bang on trend and very wearable.

What do you think? And yes their sizing is a bit up the spout but I can live with that.

There online ordering has really improved but I think my Hermes driver is beginning to think me or dd have a problem the amount of orders we have had

I'm finding the opposite. I have a big local H&M and used to find good basics there and work clothes. This year it's a load of tat definitely not on trend. Very market stall quality and unappealing. I was in the Oxford St store last month and the same.

I love H&M, I think more than 50% of my wardrobe is from there. The 7.99 tops in there at the moment are fantastic and wash really well.

Some dresses are vile but they do boho well, some nice printed tops and trousers, a boho Aztec jacket sold out and written about by Polly Vernon in Grazia, another dress I got not widely on sale but sold out. The workwear can be hit and miss I personally don't buy that from there. Basics not really tried but have bought a vest top in the past. Leggings are good. I noticed that the Wimbledon yummy mummies used to go to the younger Divided store (separate from main) to get more "Young on trend" stuff.

As Trinny and Suzannah said they produce a few gems but have to rummage.

The jewellery is excellent better than Accessorize and nice pretty bits, unusual stones etc which look more expensive than they are. Nice tights too. Where I work (Hammersmith) and used to (Wimbledon) the place is never empty!

It's very uneven and, to be honest I've not seen anything I liked since before Christmas but I'm still a big fan. When it's bad it's absolute dross but when it's good I think it's quite similar to Whistles.

The kids' section is such good quality, they do the best vests and jeans I've found and a good price.

I really like the stuff they have in at the moment but also think it might be slightly down to having had about two years around 2011 when everything just looked really rubbish in there (I blame the fashion at the time too!), so anything is good in comparison.

love H&M . My dd got her interview suits there , then she got he pregnancy stuff. Get good stuff for my gs . I get mainly tights and the odd item. They have at least 2 price ranges tho. So maybe some stores do not have the better quality?

I think you're right. My local branch is a bit rubbish at the moment but occasionally I see something really nice but there's only ever one so I assume it's been bought online or from another branch and returned. It's frustrating as it's not as if I live in the Styx. I won't buy online because of their sizing. Their menswear always looks better quality too.

The organic cotton scoop neck plain long sleeved tops are pretty good.

I never realised but certain towns seem to be better at H&M store arrangement - 2 examples Croydon two, the Whitgift Centre one is awful, crowded with stuff whereas the Centrale one seems more fluid. The Bromley one also seems more spread out and fluid.

Westfield (both Stratford and White City) have nice big ones, the Wimbledon branch has a separate menswear and kids store, Divided shop and normal H&M (3) and it really helps! The Hammersmith one where I work has 3 levels not fab stock range but seems fluid and easy to navigate.

Croydons Zara though (3 levels) always seems appalling though a total mess compared to Bromley which is all on one level and very fluid.

I swear the layout and floor levels helps with me! spend far too much time shopping!
