What do girls were under skirts?

My lg will, by the summer ( ish!), be toilet-trained. For the last few months, she has refused to wear trousers and is in dresses/skirts and tights all the time. The things is - she's a climber. When she was little, if put those knickers over her nappy. But I think she's too old for those now.

So my question is this: what to 3yo girls wear under their skirts so their pants aren't in show the whole time? Thanks!

My dd just wears pants, they're only pants and as long as they're clean who cares of they're on show. Dd certainly doesn't!

Short or 3/4 leggings?

Not because I cared about her pants being on show but more because it made climbing and sliding at the park easier as her legs didn't stick to the slides and frames

3 to 4 year old generally don't wear anything other than knickers under the skirts (in warmer weather) or tights (in colder weather) because they're little girls and it matters not a hoot if anyone sees their knickers.

Pants. Pants cover their bums. It isn't necessary to cover the pants that cover their bums.
But trousers and leggings are more practical for active children than dresses/skirts.

Just pants. You tuck your skirt in your knickers when you're doing handstands

Who cares one iota if a child's knickers show? Rejoice in having an active child. Leggings are a great option to avoid scratches though.

Although DD did go through a phase of wearing leggings under dresses by her own choice. She also wore a lot of tunics with leggings which were practical and comfortable for climbing and sliding.

Knickers. If we went to soft play or anywhere with big slides I tended to put her in leggings purely because you slide faster than when you have bare legs.

Yes, we did a lot of tunics and leggings too. Also jeans or dungarees with straps loose enough to just push off her shoulders when she needed the loo.

Not sure what she is climbing at 3, but if you know it's likely to be trees tell her she has to wear clothes suitable for the activity i.e. trousers.

Cropped leggings, shirts instead of skirts or just knickers if the dress is longer.

Never occurred to me to put anything other than knickers under a skirt.

They show their pants. Or (if the 3 year olds I know are typical) take off all their clothes and run around naked. Or wear trousers or leggings if they need leg protection.

My girls loved a skort when they were little, even had them for Brownies. Bit strange in my opinion.

Just pants. However most of the year in the uk it's too cold so they would have tights on also

I think dresses are quite impractical for climbing children so if she really wants to wear a dress and climb, the safest option is a short dress with leggings. We actually had a letter home from nursery (where there was a climbing frame) asking people to not send children in billowing dresses because they were unsafe.

If she is sliding, it is uncomfortable to slide in just pants because some skin on her bum/thigh will still be vulnerable to a friction burn from the slide. You can get close fitting Jersey shorts to put under a skirt/dress to avoid this.

I wish skirts and dresses had never been invented.

But as my 3yo DD is also a climber and a gymnast (but loves her dresses) she's often found wearing tunic type dresses with leggings underneath which works quite well.

You can get lots of nice 3/4 length leggings from h&m. They are only about £2.50 a pair and come in lots of different colours. My dd always wears tunic tops and leggings as she likes to climb etc.
