Can I wear this dress for work?

I'm travelling to a conference in a couple of days and am wondering if I can get away with wearing this dress www.finerylondon.com/uk/products/brunswick-integrated-wrap-shirt-dress?taxon_id=6

It's an academic conference and sartorially people approach it differently, some wear suits, some jeans. I never dress formally so wouldn't feel comfortable in tailoring but is this too casual?

Wow lots of comments about the dress, thank you everyone.

I see that it's not everyone's cup of tea but I love it precisely because it's surprising, it looks like a plain ahirt dress and there's the twist. It's not so open at the back, I can even fit a vest underneath but I did decide that it's too casual for the main event so I'm going to wear it with my new Chie Mihara sandals for strolls around the city (it's warm where I'm going, very excited about this trip).

If it was black, I'd love it.

Anyone else think that the model doesn't really show the dress to it's best? It looks one or two sizes too big. The same for another similar dress.

I love it. I think it's the colour making it look like a hospital gown to some?

I like things that are a bit different.
