I started going grey in my 20s and have dyed my hair ever since, first to my natural colour (mid brown) and more recently to dark blonde. I'm 50 this year and I've (almost!) decided to take the plunge and stop with the dye.
Partly because I've never found one that really works on me colour-wise (they always go too reddy whereas I need something very ash), partly because of the faff every 6 weeks or so, and partly because I'm increasingly uncomfortable lathering permanent dye on my head so often.
There have been some great threads on this in the past, like this one:

But wondering if anyone currently in the same boat and care to share?! Any tips?
It's not so bad at the moment, just a few inches of roots (and not the worst contrast between those and my dyed hair). But I'm not looking forward to it when it's half and half - I've a chin length bob, and really don't want to cut it short.
I bought some Aveda Blue Malva which is supposed to be great at bringing out grey/white and reducing brassiness, but having used it once suspect all that is going to do is increase the difference between my natural and not so natural colour, so perhaps that will go back in the cupboard for a while.
