Work shoes, help needed please!

I'll be going back to work soon after maternity leave. My work wardrobe desperately needs updating. It's office, smart casual. It's the shoes I am struggling with. I need some smart black flats that are comfy and will go with skirts and trousers.

Any suggestions? Thanks.

I won't wear socks. But yes, I am struggling! I don't like super flat ballet pumps, they just don't work on my feet.

I wear Clarks's brogues - the Hamble Oak style. They're not cheap cheap, but they are not super pricey. Can sometimes find them in outlets.

Ah yes I have a pair of pale tan ones of those. Good idea. That's the kind of price I can stretch to.
