I'm going to America - what make-up should I buy?

I'm talking about reasonably priced drugstore type brands. On my list I have:
NYX
Wet n Wild
Sinful Colors
Essence.

Any more? And does anyone have any specific recommendations for products?

The drugstore brands available here have slightly different/bigger ranges - Revlon and Maybelline are two (I have some really nice cream blush sticks from Maybelline that never appeared on this side of the pond). Oh, and Neutrogena makeup - really nice tinted lip balms, concealer, lip crayons.

Why yes, I am obsessed with Foreign Chemists.

Annarose2014 · 22/03/2016 17:42

I'd scratch NYX off the list as it's available online through Boots now so it'll be in physical stores before you know it.

Milani has some decent stuff. Also Sonia Kashuk and Physicians Formula.

Head over to beautypedia and check out the us brands. I used to buy a lot of the Yes To range they are now in some Boots.

Belated thanks, all. I think I'm about to lose hours of my life to beautypedia...

Sephora's own brand sheet masks are lovely, if you like sheep masks.

Tacitits · 30/03/2016 16:54

I definitely want to check out Sephora, although my wallet may hate me.

I was a bit disappointed when I went to the beauty section in the drugstores in San Francisco - most of the brands can be found here easily but Sephora is always lovely and if you like the EOS lipbalms then they are cheaper in the USA - enjoy your trip!

ZaraW · 30/03/2016 17:21

Cargo is pretty good

Rocksie · 30/03/2016 18:02

I like Sephora's own brand bronzer

I'd have a look at Milani and Tarte.
Bite Beauty lipsticks are also interesting.

I would buy everything from ColourPop - it's a cheap-ish brand. The eyeshadows (cream I think) are supposed to be amazing, and the lipsticks and lip pencils are getting good reviews too.

Tacitits · 31/03/2016 12:11

Thanks again all. Milani and ColourPop have just been added to the list. bakewelltarte I'm going to Memphis, don't know if the ranges will be different from SanFran or not.

Essence as in www.essence.eu/uk/home/ ?
I'd dump that, it's a German brand, widely available in continental Europe and I saw some of it in Wilkos.

Tacitits · 31/03/2016 13:55

arahia I was wondering if it was the same as the one in Wilko. I've seen good things about it online but the Wilko one is shit!

if that's the one you mean Ulta - essence
then it is the same as wilko

I don't think wilko has the full range, the brand is known for some funky limited edition that may not make it here.
