Capsule wardrobe colours for holiday abroad?

I like to take my holiday clothes in a few colours only so that I can mix and match everything and get more outfits out of less clothes. It also means I can get my pedicure done in a colour suitable for every day.

Black and white are usually a givens a they go with everything, what other colours would you suggest I go with this year? Inspiration needed please!

I am brown eyed, very dark brown hair and a bit pale at the moment but I do tan easily.

I have wondered about orange and jade?

Navy, I love navy, it goes with everything

I love coral for holidays, looks great with white/navy/brown/metallics

Navy instead of black? Or as well as?

I like navy too and it features heavily in my winter wardrobe, Dh will say it's too boring for sunny weather!

Coral is quite similar to the 'orange' things I had seen. I like coral and think it suits a suntan too.

There are brilliant ideas on Pinterest. Just type in holiday wardrobe.

I travelled around Burma recently with a super chic French woman who wore navy, orange, dove grey and cream. We had very limited luggage . She managed to look fabulous all the time combining these colours and was inspirational - I am trying to devise a similar capsule wardrobe but will never manage to carry it off with the sheer style that she showed!

Coral and navy look great together.

My go-to travel outfit is ankle grazer white chinos or jeans, flat brown sandals, navy and white striped breton top, large navy sunglasses and a brown leather bag. Nude polish on fingernails, coral on toenails.

Look on The Vivienne Files for inspiration.

I'd go for navy, white and turquoise, but then I know nothing about these things!

I'm off to South East Asia soon for 26 days and I'm a bit of a packing weirdo, because I like taking about 15 items of clothing max on a trip. On this holiday, I'm also going to try not taking any black items, so the two neutral colours are navy and pale grey (almost silver), accent colours are turquoise and hot pink.
4 dresses, 2 pants, 1 shorts, 1 skirt, 5 tops, 1 wrap, 1 romper-y thing (one mad item always goes in), one of the dresses has huge turquoise and pink palm trees on a navy background (this actually sounds more mad than the romper... it is a Lily Pulitzer maxi, so made for cocktails in the sun). Navy and coral are also great, I love coral polish on toes in the summer.
And yy to The Vivienne Files, she's excellent for colour. Enjoy your trip!

I'm also a navy & white girl and add turquoise or coral. Last year was first time I'd stuck to the rules but it made everything so much easier!

FuckOffJeffrey · 21/03/2016 22:15

I like yellow, light grey, white and black for holiday mix and match.
