Hi, i am looking for a dress to wear to an event. I'm having a nightmare finding anything that suits and fits me on the high street. I'm a size 16 and ideally looking for a dress in a non stretch material that has a sarong wrap skirt but i don't want a stretchy fabric. I've been looking everywhere but can't seem to find anything. I love what Nigella wears and just love her but again finding something similar is proving so difficult. Am i looking in the wrong places? Can someone offer any advice?

What about something like this

www.damselinadress.co.uk/shop/dresses/occasion-dresses/preppy-full-dress.aspx

Other places to try are coast, lk Bennett and try debenhams online to search

Actually ignore that just realised you said you want a sarong wrap skirt. Not sure what they are!

MrsNoraCharles · 17/03/2016 15:04

Apparently Nigella Lawson wears a lot of Saint Bustier. ££ though so it depends on your budget.

FauxFox · 17/03/2016 15:22

Viv of Holloway do a range of tailored sarong dresses

faye134 · 17/03/2016 15:50

Thank you for the suggestions. I have tried Vivienne of Holloway but i'm looking for a more elevated product eg silks and cottons as i am in desperate need of a dress for an event!

Any good? www.bombshellhq.com/collections/moss-crepe-dresses

faye134 · 17/03/2016 16:31

YES thank you so much!! Looks exactly like what i am looking for!! I have just researched and apparently Nigella bought 12 of their dresses and they do Cotton and Silk dresses so this is perfect!

Gorgeous aren't they. I'm debating buying one for myself!

I've just found Bombshell on Facebook and they are at the Country Living Fair this week so i may pop down with my daughter tomorrow to have a look at their stand. The show is always brilliant! The dresses are absolutely gorgeous. I have my eye on one of the beautiful Silk Crepe de Chine dresses, can't believe i haven't heard of them until now!!

Oh that's a gorgeous one. Glad you like it. I am going to treat myself to one after Easter if I stay away from the chocolate buttons!

faye134 · 23/03/2016 20:55

I have just got an email this evening from Bombshell saying they have 25% off their Liberty collection! I should have held out!! But the code is TREAT and is valid until Monday!

They have a 50% sale on at the moment and i just really couldn't resist their beautiful Hot Pink Cap sleeve dress! Their dresses have solved all my problems!

Just taken a look and sadly the dress I wanted is sold out in my size Sad

WhiteHairReally · 01/04/2016 15:44

As ever, late to the party, but I too was going to suggest Bombshell ( with a nifty % off). Glad you found them OP. I bought the archive Lilac mid sleeve last year for several 'dressed up events', with and without hat. As the website suggests, with a proper sleeve, a long enough skirt and a waist that did the right things in the right places, I felt confident and happy. No surreptitious yanking the skirt down whilst sitting and bingo wing concerns. Really hope you enjoy your new frocks OP!
