New Look denim dress wardrobe staple or potential Mistake?!

Hi! I saw this in New Look and was tempted. Way outside my comfort zone as live in my skinny jeans and look a bit scruffy. Am size 10/12 petite so it would be at least knee length on me. I kind of thought it could be dressed down with tights and boots and would be quite versatile. But I am in my 40's! Honest opinions!!

I like this one - for myself.

I like that one drinks
I've been eyeing up denim dresses all winter but the buttoned up ones would be gaping on me.

That's lovely I'm 30 and I would wear it but my aunt is 64 and she said she would also wear it.
It's lovely.
Did you end up getting it?

I've got the next one , not worn it yet but I'm looking forward to .

Ive got a similar dress, been wearing it for years. Poloneck under in winter, opaques and boots. In summer on its own with sandals

DinosaursRoar · 16/03/2016 13:19

oh gunting, I like that one as well as the OP's one! I'm 30-something and much closer to 40 than 30, but I think denim dress is a bit 'all age' like skinny jeans, as long as your arse is covered, and being similarly petite, it would be around my knees too.

I think with a cardie, tan boots and brown or navy tights it would look good now, as the weather improves, with Mumsy converse type trainers or with flip flops in the summer.

It might not be long lasting, but at that price, it doesn't need to be a 5 year purchase.

The first one is nice but I'd probably wear without the belt (I'm 5'5" so it wouldn't be as short as on the model)

The full length button front looks nice but if it's too stiff a fabric , it would rub at my neck and armpits so probably a no from me.

I really like the tunic top, though not sure how it would look on me (I'm not a dresses wearer IRL)

Thanks all! Am escaping sans kids to try it on - thanks for the styling ideas! I'm rubbish at all that! I know what you mean about buttons gaping. My fear is them popping open so might sew them up tight! I like the Oliver Bonas one too - wow I might even wear something other than scruffy skinny jeans this year!!
