Successfully covering grey's?

Does anyone have any ideas about covering greys at home? I tried out a box dye (can't remember what it was nice and easy maybe?) and left it on the for recommended time. When I washed it out the greys were still there and looked exactly the same!

I'm new to grey hair covering so am not sure if this is normal.

I've asked at the hairdresser to do it but they always want to put a semi on them and I can KNOW that semis wash out really quickly on me so I don't see the point in paying for a couple of weeks cover.

Can anyone recommend a really good permanent dye that will hold? I'm not worried about tide marks from re-growth because the greys are only scattered.

Your hairdresser should do what you ask. Try a new hairdresser!
