Oh Monty, so sorry. Look after yourself.SadFlowers

Blackduck · 23/03/2016 07:51

Monty so very very sorry.

Please take care of yourself.

Auriga you too - much strength to you.

Here I have somehow become the confidante to someone in the village whose relationship is/has broken down.... not sure how much more I can take really.

CremOlafoam · 23/03/2016 08:45

BD you really don't need someone sapping your strength right now. Are you able to extract self from being available to listen? That's all you need Sad
It took me half an hour if explaining, cajoling, appealing, apologising and promising to get a complaining customer from furious to shaking hands and laughing yesterday. I was completely drained afterwards and have found getting up this morning actually painful.
Waiting now for breast exam.... Ho hum.

Monty, thinking of you this morning pet.

motherinferior · 23/03/2016 08:47

Cremo, I had mine last week - not fun but soon over.

BD, I advise a judicious wobbly at friend, which makes it clear you have enough on your plate.Angry

Dreamqueen · 23/03/2016 09:14

Monty sympathy & condolences Flowers

magimedi · 23/03/2016 09:18

BD - I'd second MI's wise advice.

In other news, I had what I think must have been a conversation with someone who must have been my nephew yesterday. It consisted, on his part, of startled grunts and obvious surprise that (a) he was supposed to use a landline (b) a person by the name of his mother existed (c) I might wish to speak to her. I deduced that she wasn’t there. Grin

wordassociationfootball · 23/03/2016 15:01

Much, much sympathy, Monty Sad Flowers

herbaceous · 23/03/2016 16:46

BD - those in a crisis can rarely see that anyone else might possibly have problems of their own. This must be made plain!

Went to a 'good' funeral earlier. She was a member of our choir, and wanted us to sing at her funeral. Most of us managed to keep it together, though there was a dodgy moment during Cantique de Jean Racine... And another dodgy moment when the last hymn was one no-one had ever seen before. That's the danger with Catholic services! Along with the large amounts of religious guff, also. That one cannot roll eyes at, what with it being disrespectful and all.

Loads of people there - I hope she knew how loved she was while still alive...

Then to that rarest of creatures, an NHS podiatrist. Apparently the problem I've got with my feet is that they're hypermobile, along with lots of other bits of me. Would explain a lot. She fitted me up with some new orthotics, and they already feel lovely...

DS did the first part of his English iGCSE this afternoon - he had to speak for five minutes about the subject of his choosing, then answer questions on it. He chose "Football" and had no problem watsoever filling the time and probably sent the Head of English to sleep. This gains him 20% of his GCSE.

If only all subjects were examined like this - he'd be an A* student.

Boiler man tried, but failed, to repair boiler, so has dismantled it, and will hopefully be back on Friday to install a new one. Will then need to transfer most of the contents of our savings account to him, instead of spending it on frivolities in California. Sad

Hope you are OK, Monty. Thinking of you.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2016 16:58

BD, wot MI and Herbs said!

Herbs, glad the funeral was a good one.

CV, hope DS gets this option too! Boo to boiler.

Right Crepeys (and any lurkers) could you recommend anyone to tutor my DD for A'level History - Tudors (breadth - AQA syllabus) The dickhead tutor she has for Tudors is single-handedly putting her off History and she is nowhere near reaching her potential. DC/friends/rellies/neighbours/yourselves - any suggestions very gratefully received!

CointreauVersial · 23/03/2016 17:24

Divorced, beheaded, died, divorced, beheaded, survived. Do I get the tutoring job? Wink

Seriously, that's just pants about her being put off the subject. Hope you find someone to help, but I'm afraid I know no one.

bigTillyMint · 23/03/2016 17:29

CV, even I know that! It is pants.

The teacher/school seem to get results by stipulating A at GCSE for entry to A level subjects and then rely on swotty students working hours and hours every night and 9am-7pm (on their revision timetable on the school website.)

Lalsy · 23/03/2016 17:48

Tilly, that is absolutely ridiculous - surely no-one does that, productively - they will be bored out of their minds by mid-May. ds broke up last week and I am trying to find an excuse to feel his forehead as he has started revising!

TV/S and B - Night Manager - Uniqlo has linen shirts like what TomBot wears.

Well done on funeral singing, Herbs.

BD, yes, time to snap and no apologising!

hattymattie · 23/03/2016 18:03

Have been overpaid overtime - do Itell? I do a lot of extra unpaid hours anyway - oh hell I'm going to have to tell aren't I?

BTM - how can you mess up the Tudors - they are so interesting. We're doing them in the primary now and they all seem engaged.

Taught class quite well think - they are a very sweet class of only 9 kids.

Hope all those with elderly parent problems are bearing up. Monty, hope you're OK.

BD - agree with the others, look after yourself for the moment.

CointreauVersial · 23/03/2016 22:23

Have been binge-watching The Night Manager on iPlayer - oooh, it's gripping, isn't it?

I wish I looked like Jed - she's stunning and gets to shag the Hiddle-bot

CremOlafoam · 24/03/2016 07:26

Oh my the Night Manager is marvellous indeed. Dh and I went to see High Rise at the little Arthouse cinema which features the Hidbot in the starring role. Tis a dystopian JG Ballard story, so I wouldn't necessarily recommend it , unless you need more Hidbot in your life.Grin

Boob squash done ; don't like the diagonal position much, but yes MI it is very quick now.

Had a very productive day yesterday. New carpet ordered, decking oil acquired, bedding plants sorted, lemon yogurt pot cake made, lots of laundry done.and am getting a new car as I am eligible for an upgrade. [car] yay.

Shocking BTM. Tudors is such a great period too. Full of gore and shock and awe. It's such a shame that he is being put off. Good luck with the tutor search.

BeachysFlipFlops · 24/03/2016 08:24

Today I shall be having the string removed from my belly button Grin what a day!

I'm hoping to have a productive day too (not withstanding stitch!) Yesterday was a waste of a day, with an emergency rush to the vet. Ddog managed to slash her eyeballs running through the woods Confused the vet put luminous green dye in her eye, which showed a luminous green line across each eyeballs. Quite riveting and scary.

Then emergency rush to pick up ds from school, who really wasn't an emergency, but had a bit of a cold!

Can you share yoghurt lemon cake recipe, Crem? I have so much yogurt, which ds demands on a health kick, then doesn't eat.....

Blackduck · 24/03/2016 08:38

Oh Beachy - is Ddog okay?

I had a most fabulous supper with my neighbours :) and am now at work doing the last day before the long weekend (Yay - bring it on!)

I will clear some stuff off and then head home early :)

motherinferior · 24/03/2016 08:40

I must get my arse into gear rather than sitting around in my Ladyjogging togs and listening to the radio.

bigTillyMint · 24/03/2016 09:05

Beachy, good luck for today and hope your doggy is OK. WTAF re your DS?Grin

BD, glad to hear you had a restorative supper - you deserve it.

Last day hereWine

BeachysFlipFlops · 24/03/2016 09:14

She seems fine this morning, much better than I hoped. The vet was pleased I'd taken her in asap, so the antibiotic eye drops could start to work. I actually thought she'd been poisoned somehow as her eyes were rolling around so much.

Ds has gone in for his last day. He was off on Tuesday, then sent in yesterday but bailed early, but will do all day today. He's having an odd relationship with school and life in general at the moment, so I'm cutting him some slack.

Quite looking forward to this weekend. Big family party here on Sunday. Haven't decided what to cook yet!

motherinferior · 24/03/2016 12:44

In other news, my dad is now getting very, very het up about the fact that the hospice may put my mother in a room with someone else. I rang them and they said they did their utmost to give people single rooms, especially when they were actually dying, but couldn’t guarantee it. He’s now talking about should he find private provision. I really, really do not want to go down that route.

bigTillyMint · 24/03/2016 12:54

MI, sending strength. It sounds very likely that they will give her a single room, but how to convince your DF of that?

motherinferior · 24/03/2016 13:07

And although I've said it would be better to have hospice provision she could come home and they would support here there. I have laboured the point to him that UK hospice care really is very good and we need to avail ourselves of it...
