DP's mum very generously gave me a £25 Lush gift card for my birthday. I've never bought anything other than shower and bath stuff so I will stock up that but was just wondering if there were any cleansers or masks that anyone could recommend? I've got weird combination skin with dry patches on cheeks, bit of rosacea, occasional hormonal spots.

Been using Ultrabland cleanser for several years now and absolutely love it, brilliant stuff. Slodge it on, leave a few mins and then flannel or face-brush off. Does eye make-up too with a damp cotton pad and it's v. gentle, so doesn't irritate.

Also love Angels On Bare Skin, not for every day but once or twice a week or so to (gently) exfoliate and freshen skin.

Tried several of the moisturisers over the years but never found one I liked enough to stick with.

My skin is middle-aged, dry cheeks/neck and oilier T-zone.

Oh I did try Ultrabland about 12 years ago, I quite liked it but it felt too heavy on my skin (teenager-y at the time). My skin is different now so might give it another go.

Another vote for Ultrabland here! I'm a chronic acne sufferer, and it's the only thing that helps the state of my skin! It's amazing! No need for a moisturiser either - it's like 3 products in one!

Came to recommend the Full of Grace serum bar. It's actually a really good dupe for the Sarah Chapman Overnight Facial at a fraction of the cost. Really gorgeous. I use it every night and often go to bed early so I can do my routine

Yup, Ultrabland is good.

I like Coalface too, but have/had greasy skin.

Ultrabaland (it feels to me that it has slight texture, not grains, but not smooth like BodyShop Camomile butter)

I bought the sugar lip scrub again (great for winter) but I only use it in the shower - very messy otherwise Grin

Their hair products maybe? A shampoo bar (just be very sparing otherwise you are there for ever rinsing it out ...........)
R&B conditioner/leave in.
I use it overnight on my hair (dyed) then rinse to leave it 'coated'

70isa I've found each pot of Ultrabland I've had, have all had a slightly different texture!....but I like that because it's proof that all Lush stuff is "homemade" not mass produced with a ton of chemicals Smile I've had smooth buttery ones, slightly grainy ones, very grainy ones, really thick waxy ones....

I find ultrabland breaks me out at first, and ten my skin settles down and is great- so don't use it before a big event!

I love Skindrink moisturiser and it has rescued my thirsty skin this winter, and hasn't irritated my pregnant face. My friend swears by Skin's Shangri LA, and I'm tempted to try that next, although it is pricey, so could be an expensive mistake!

Their shampoo bars are excellent too- I use the karma one and another one whose name I can't remember, but it is orange and makes my hair so squeaky clean AND shiny!

Ooh some good recommendations. Yeah I seem to recall Ultrabland being very waxy and hard to rinse off but probably better with a flannel. I will try it!

I absolutely love the Cynthia Sylvia Stout shampoo but it seems to be online only now which is annoying. Anyone know if you can use gift cards to pay on their website?

When I get run down and tired and the weather's cold my skin gets dry, feels a bit scaly and tight. This happened recently and the combo of Oatifix fresh face mask, Angels on Bare Skin and Celestial moisturiser have sorted it out in a few days. Celestial is light but creamy and smells gorgeous.

Oh yes Oatifix works well for me too, forgot about that one. And I've just got a pot of Rosy Cheeks - v soothing and smells absolutely divine, have a quick sniff every time I go to the fridge!

My DH is a Cynthia fan too and was gutted when it disappeared from shops. Just managed to get him a big bottle online. Not in UK though so afraid no idea what the situation is there.

I love Ultrabland, too. I'm interested to hear that PP leave it on for a few minutes- what's the thinking behind this?

I also love 9 to 5 for removing make up, Ayesha face mask and Eau Roma Water.

MamaLazarou I always leave my cleanser on for a few mins before removing (usually brush my teeth or something in between) - no rationale behind it, just vague idea of giving it chance to work a bit. I do the same with shampoo/conditioner. Might well be pointless or completely unfounded, just a habit that works for me.

Go in and chat to them - they're usually lovely in there and will sit with you and try out products to find the best one for you :)

I use ultrabland in the morning and angels on bare skin at night. I absolutely love angels but I don't have the time for it in the mornings. I also just started using enzymion which has cleared my combi/acne prone skin but can be a bit drying so I also use full of grace on alternative evenings. My skin is looking amazing

The full of grace serum bar has been great for my dry skin and doesn't cause me to break out. The jasmine and henna hair mask once a week is lovely, with shampoo and conditioner bars for every day. I like the honey one but it depends on your hair type and colour. The massage bars make great body moisturisers, too.

I'm not a fan of most of the soaps and bath bombs, which tend to be drying and very heavily scented. I also tried the celestial facial mousturiser and, while it moisturised my face alright, it made me smell of yoghurt for some time after use!

i cant use any of their shampoos or bath products as theyre full of SLS which makes me itch, but I absolutely love some of their perfumes, particularly "vanillary", "smell of weather turning" and death and decay.

Also love figs and leaves soap, which has the same fragrance as death and decay perfume.

Mask of magnaminty facemask is great too

Wasnt keen on any of the moisturisers particularly as most of them make me feel like ive got a film on my skin

I got Ultrabland and Rosy Cheeks, apparently it is good for rosacea. Also got a sample of 9 to 5. I'm going to use a flannel with the Ultrabland I think, it's not as heavy as I remember but still feels like I need to rinse very thoroughly!

I will probably go back for Eau Roma as well.

I use Angels on Bare Skin, I like it but I'm not sure I would buy it again purely because I often seem to get the bits of stuff in my eyes which is really annoying! I have very problematic skin (sebaceous eczema, sensitive skin, and acne) and it's not been a miracle cure but doesn't make anything worse either so...I also use the 'Big' solid conditioner which I really like, it conditions my hair really well leaving it soft and shiny, and doesn't upset my scalp eczema and/or make my hair ultra greasy. Ooh and I have one of their lip exfoliaters too that I use now and then which definitely works for me.

Branleuse, what is SLS please? I want to try more Lush products but don't want to itch!
I have their salt scrub which I love, really leaves you feeling fresh and clean plus has none of the little plastic beads that are in lots of products/ need to be banned.

Another Angels on Bare Skin fan here, I keep it in the shower and use it in there a few times a week as it can be a bit messy. Let the Good Times Roll is similar and smells lovely too. I like Eau Roma toner as well. There are some nice moisturisers like Celestial and Gorgeous.

I've never tried Full of Grace because the idea of a solid serum bar just doesn't sit well with me. How does it work? I understand Lush's eco rationale with solid products but apart from hair stuff I've never got on with any of it.

SLS is sodium laurel sulphate, which is in most shampoos and shower gels as a foaming agent. If youre ok with normal shampoos then you shouldnt have a problem, but its a pretty harsh chemical, and doesnt really go along very well with Lushs natural ethos

Thank you Branleuse, that sadly counts me out of the shampoos and bath range then too. Just in the last year I've found a real problem with sulphates, they build up on my scalp and itch like crazy. You are right, it does seem strange for a 'natural' company to be using them.

Ok so non foaming products it is. Anyone tried their makeup?
