H&M sleeves - what is going on?

Kefybaby · 25/02/2016 07:16

This is the second H&M top that I have bought in the last couple of months and they both have really tight sleeves. I was not aware I had fat lower arms until now! Is it just me?
(Not to mention the fact that you need to go up two sizes from your usual size...)

Thank goodness, I thought it was just me with this problem!
H&M are a nightmare with their sizing, such a shame.

MamaLazarou · 25/02/2016 12:11

THANK YOU for saying this. I bought a lovely grey marl sweater there a few weeks ago. It's a beautiful fit, but the sleeves are ridiculously tight. I have slim arms as well.... Weird.

Dowser · 25/02/2016 13:11

There's a lovely big one where we are going tomorrow. I can't buy anything there...sizes are ridiculous.

Idid buy a nice knitted dress from c and a last month....benidorm. Couldn't believe it's still going strong.

I had to buy a SIZE 16 dress in there last week, I'm only 10 stone!

Kefybaby · 25/02/2016 22:13

I am so relieved it's not just me!!
I am a size 12 but can only get in size 16 at H&M and the sleeves are still tight.

My size 8 14 year old dd tried on a pair of dungarees in H&M that were labelled size 16 but were too small ...

FuckOffJeffrey · 25/02/2016 22:40

I tried on a size 18 coat in H&M a couple of weeks ago and I couldn't get it closed - I'm a size 12 in most places occasionally a 14.

Malermalergoni · 25/02/2016 22:48

I'm sooooo glad to read this. Picked up a gorgeous cardi in charity shop (still labelled, size 10) couldn't get my arm in AT ALL. Gave it to my 11yo dd (teeny twiggy type) still snugShock

Malermalergoni · 25/02/2016 22:50

It was h&m btw

Kefybaby · 25/02/2016 23:04

The last time I tried something on in the fitting rooms I almost got trapped in it and thought I would have to call for help to be released! Blush

I have this with h&m too! Really tight arms plus im a 12 but in there I have to wear size 16. Really weird

Whenwillwe3meetagain · 26/02/2016 06:17

I've had the other way with coats and bought a 12 when normally I'm a 16 so weird

ifigoup · 26/02/2016 06:21

Where are you all shopping in H&Ms that label tops and dresses by dress sizes?? In ours it's all S, M, L etc.

On the things they do label with dress sizes, especially trousers, yes, I do find they run small. I can fit into H&M kids' age 11-12 tops though!

FuckOffJeffrey · 26/02/2016 09:54

Some stuff has sizes (eg 10 / 12)and others do the S M L - I have tops from there in S, M and L and they all fit the same. There is no consistancy in sizing whatsoever.

Floisme · 26/02/2016 10:17

I can be anything from 8-14 or XS-L. I assume it's because they change suppliers all the time to keep their prices low. I dread to think how some of them are made.

Cheesybaps · 26/02/2016 10:43

I agree, completely bizarre.

After years of having to "size up" in H&M, I tried on a dress which I assumed would fit. It was massive! I ended up buying the S size. I'm absolutely not S!

I'm a size 12/14, I always end up taking loads of different sizes into the changing room as you just never know with H&M.

MissWimpyDimple · 26/02/2016 13:29

I think the key is to go by the euro sizes. Both for the kids and ladies stuff.

So 38 is 10, 40 is 12, 42 is 14 etc. They label them as 36 being a 10 which it isn't and it results in having to buy a size up at least!

The kids stuff is similar. Go by the height in cm rather than the age bracket.

HelenF35 · 26/02/2016 13:36

H&M sizes are utterly ridiculous. When I was a size 8 trousers and 12/14 top I couldn't get my boobs in a 16 and could only get them in an 18 if it was stretchy! I could barely get in a 12 in their trousers yet an 8 pair for their jeans were hanging off me. Confused

HelenF35 · 26/02/2016 13:36

Of not for

CeeceeBloomingdale · 26/02/2016 16:51

I'm anywhere between an 8 and a 16 in h&m, I too struggle with arms as mine are quite fleshy

superbfairywren · 26/02/2016 17:13

I too am glad it's not just me! I bought two tops/blouses a while back in a 16(normally a 14 max in tops) and couldn't the sleeves on at all. The tops were lovely but just cut really weird!

ANewIdentitytoJazzItUpABit · 26/02/2016 17:33

I bought size 12 trousers - stretchy, jegging type items for every day wear - and soon as I saw them out of the packet (Internet buy) I didn't even bother to try them on. The hip area looked more suited to a size 6 - 8.

C'mon guys, sort it out.

Zisterhood · 27/02/2016 08:12

Does anyone else find H&M changing room lighting shows up all your cellulite and with the light directly shining on me makes my fine hair look REALLY fine.

I have full body cellulite in there. :(

FuckOffJeffrey · 27/02/2016 17:48

Zisterhood yes it does. It also makes every individual pore on your face look like they are visible from outer space. I know I have some large pores on certain areas of my face, but I feel like I need an entire facial skin transplant some serious spa treatment when looking in the mirror in the H&M changing rooms.
