I have very very dark brown hair with red tones. I had my hair balayaged a few times last year (sort of dip dye but not such a harsh line), loved it, it was a warm caramel at the bottom but, mostly thanks to my laziness, went a bit brassy in colour.
I went to the hairdresser today and said I wanted to get rid of the balayage and have it all more one colour, a nice caramel colour with some blonder highlights through the top. I have just left and it's much blonder than I wanted, it's almost ashy blond throughout. I told the hairdresser I didn't really like it and she said that shed put the ash tones to counteract the brassiness / warm tones that were in my hair
Her advice was to wash it a few times and let the toner do something, and if I still don't like it to go back. She aaid it will naturally tone down to be slightly darker / more natural with a few washes. And also because I have never had properly blonde hair it's a surprise and I will get used to it
Is she lying? Will it calm down after a few washes?
Apart from going back to the salon, other options are shaving my head or chopping my head off. Please be kind.
