Oily bastard skin

I'm 35 and I shouldn't be having to worry about this! I have a really oily nose and chin - I wear foundation most days because I look crap without it, but after 3/4 hours there's a layer of oil sitting underneath it and it looks horrible. Even with no make up on, my nose looks shiny, even if I've just cleansed.

I just use distilled witch hazel to clean my skin twice a day, which isn't harsh. Please recommend the best makeup for oily skin which won't make me look like greenpeace need to come and sort me out by midday.

Are you cleansing too much and not moisturising enough? Your skin could be over compensating for the oil being taken and producing even more.

Ahh I feel your pain! I am 36 and the same. The oiliness of my skin is hormonal so there's not a lot I can do to change it. It's more a crisis management situation! I find oil blotting papers great and I use oil free foundation. I don't use powder as it clogs up too much. Good oil free foundations are Lancome Teint Idol and MAC studio fix. I'm also a big fan of primer (oil free of course) to fix it in place for longer.

The cleanser I use is really gentle, if I use any kind of moisturiser my skin is loads more oily the next day. I did find with cleansers made for oily skin that they'd strip my skin too much and make the problem worse.

I'll try and get hold of blotting papers, I remember having them as a teenager but haven't seen them for years! And I'll look into those foundations, I currently use max factor xperience which is supposedly oil free.

I have blotting papers from Chanel (they come in a nice case with a mirror) and for cheap and cheerful I have Muji ones too. The Muji ones are great actually and only a few quid.
