Anyone else with rubbish skin no matter what you use?

Just that really. It's occurred to me that no matter what I use......cheap/expensive/double cleanse/acid tone/serum etc etc......my skin is just generally crap. I'm spotty, my skin is congested but sensitive too so I need to be careful what I use. I'm quite pale so any marks or spots show up. I'm early 40s and I'm just fed up with crappy skin! I take evening primrose, eat well and drink lots of water, and I've always looked after my skin. Why can't I have clear, glowing skin???!

There's so many variants of sudo cream now! Which one???

I actually started keeping a spreadsheet with all the ingredients of my different products, and discovered that I am probably sensitive to stearic acid (it causes massive painful spots). It is ina lot of things, but not everything.

I'm also trying Vit C to lighten marks from old spots.

building, try to put the C serum on after a low ph cleanser, I use a low ph toner before to prepare my skin. Then I add the serum and leave it be for 20 minutes before moving on with my routine. This gives it the best chance to be effective.

I treat my skin kindly (carefully) am ashamed to say I use more than I should those Nivea wipes bu so does SIL (she uses antibacterial ones as she has oily skin) none of it has ruined our skin! She does like immortelle l'occitane cream which I don't use.

LumpySpacedPrincess · 06/03/2016 08:44

Nivea wipes! Shock

SuperFlyHigh · 06/03/2016 14:07

Lumpy I do sometimes cleanse etc properly but it's hard to do last thing at night, is lazy

LumpySpacedPrincess · 06/03/2016 14:43

Wipes are so boring and they don't really clean very well.

I really enjoy double cleansing and I find it very relaxing. I tend to cleanse early evening, then it's done and I can fall into bed when I want.

SuperFlyHigh · 06/03/2016 14:44

Lumpy I may try a cleansing balm rinsed off, not sure if I can faff about with double cleansing even if it does give me the skin of 10 million angels baby bottoms!

I can confirm that DUAC ointment prescribed by my GP has changed my life. I have practically no acne ( previously always had 1-2 painful ugly ones at any point of time).. and only get 1 mild spot each month during my periods. I used it everyday for about a year and then only when I'd feel a spot starting. Absolute magic. Worth checking with your GP.

Good for you Artistic! Smile

Super, I use this in the evening, it melts everything and it is lovely to use. You rub it in then add a bit of warm water to emulsify everything.
