What serum to use?

I was browsing the John Lewis beauty bit yesterday and ended up talking to Clarins about my skin looked tired and dry with dark circles. She recommended a serum which seemed really pricey. Can anyone recommend a cheaper good one or are they worth the money?

I really like the Clarins one, it is very pricey but I think it's worth the money. I'm a big fan of their skin care range. The blue orchid face oil is lush as well.

I wouldn't go for one without getting several samples of the same one and trying it for a decent while.

I did this recently and decided to spend the money - I tried four and one felt really great. (Algenist)

I've come away with 2 sachets - I think the first size bottle was £40 ish.

I usually get the big bottle and it lasts me about 6 months, so it's fairly good value in that sense.
