Concealer advice

So, I'm over 40. I get dark under eyes, and since watching DD1's Zooella videos , I realise some concealer down the side bits of my nose would be a good idea.

So please could I have some recommendations? The skin under my eyes is crepey and kind of old looking . A few short centimetres away, the skin in my "nose creases" is quite oily and can be spotty sometimes.

After writing that, I wonder if a good strong paper bag would be my best investment...

My eyes are like that and unless I moisturise every single night using a decent eye cream I am crepetastic the next day. It doesn't take away the dark circles or fine lines but they don't seem to be getting any worse.

I do the following:

1. Primer (trialling Smashbox at the moment. Quite impressed so far)
2. Pixi correcting cream. Apply with a brush and then dab gently into your skin. Don't rub at all
3. Foundation
4. Nars creamy concealer - do the dabbing thing again
5. Set with powder

Pretty much the same as LondonHuffyPuffy with slight variations:

1. Serum containing hyaluronic acid;
2. Moisturiser;
3. SPF;
4. Smashbox hydrating under eye primer if I have a long day ahead and plan to wear a full face of makeup. Available at Boots.
5. Either Nars radiant tinted moisturiser or Armani luminous silk foundation;
6. Nars radiant creamy concealer. You only need a tiny bit - it's really pigmented so I don't use a corrector. There's nothing to beat it IMO but I hear good things about the Clarins one.

London what powder do you use under the eyes? I have stayed away from using a setting powder in that area as I worry about settling into fine lines but I have seen that Smashbox do a hydrating powder...

I use Corn Silk as it's very finely milled and put it on very sparingly. I find otherwise that as I get warmer during the day the area starts to melt a bit! I apply it with the puff that comes with the powder, do my eye make-up then sweep away the excess with a brush right at the end of the process.

I now take a lot longer to get ready in the mornings since I've upped my make-up game!

Like you I also use serum and moisturiser. I don't use an SPF though. probably should as I'm using acid toners these days.

Apply under the eye bag! It really works!.

I like the RMS beauty "un" cover up. It is very subtle and natural looking and lasts for ages if you are just using it to conceal under eye / nose area (which is what I use it for). It's particularly good for slightly more mature skin in my experience because it doesn't settle into lines too badly.

I tend to order it online (either 00 or 11 work for my fair skin) and am not sure it is stocked anywhere in shops or department stores so you may not want to take the risk! But I really like it.

Ps I definitely second the tip from Tate15 about how to apply under eye concealer!

That is a great tip, thanks Tate15 - and double love to the cheaper alternative concealer. I can do with it not being too expensive! I will look up that RMS one too Ready123, more mature and fair skin describes me too.

I use L'Oreal Skin Perfection Anti-Fatigue Perk up cream as a moisturiser/base, which is also SPF20. I really like that, then the primer from the bare minerals collection. That seems to start me off OK, but a good concealer for eyes and nose will really sort me out I think. I might look 39 rather than 41

I've bought Bobbi Brown creamy concealer for years- love it and so many shades to choose from. You can buy it with powder too, to set it.

DD used to use it but now prefers one by Mac as her skin is slightly more oily.

Go the the BB counter and ask for a trial- they will put the right shade on you.

I can second Tate's recommendation for Collection's Lasting Perfection concealer, far better than many more expensive brands.
