peeling nails!

Sorry probably been done lots already but can anyone give any advice on my awful nails?

Not had any acrylics on them or anything but they are weak and messy. Tried nail envy and some dr. Lew something brand but no improvement. Main irritation is the fact my polish last hours before chipping and flaking despite good base and top coats and think it's all down to the peeling and weakness of the nails.

I found the only way was to lay off the polish altogether. Perhaps not what you want to hear!

I had this after some major stress. I used Sally Hansen Miracle Nail Thickener. They do lots of different ones with slightly different names, but that's the one you want. Can get from Superdrug, can't remember how much it was, maybe £6 - £10.

I was desperate as my nails were literally peeling off. This stuff just painted on and made them rock solid again within about 7 - 10 days. It looks like clear nail polish, but don't put it on too thick. I removed it completely and repainted about every three days.

Nails are back to normal now Grin

I've been using cnd rescue rx for a month and my totally peeling and splitting nails are better, not perfect, but definitely better

Honestly my nails are painted and lovely again now - it didn't take long.

Have you been through stress or anything that might affect your nails like this?

littleleftie · 09/02/2016 21:49

Excuse the old lady hands - here is a photo of my nails tonight. Literally two/three weeks ago my nails were peeled and broken down really short.

My nails are doing the same at the moment, I'll get some of the Sally Hansen stuff, thanks little!

Mad I hope your nails recover soon and the stress disappears xxx

Actually just Vaseline rubbed into nails daily made a huge difference for me. You'd need to take a fortnights break from polish though but then you'd have nice nails to paint up afterwards.

As the previous poster said, I think lay off the varnish altogether and keep putting oil on your nails - I really like Dadi oil or OPI Avoplex. Both have made a different to my nails when they are looking dry and sad after too many Shellacs!

Tate15 · 10/02/2016 20:26

Vaseline all the way here! Cheap and you get great results quickly!

After doing some reading I've bought some nailtiques formula and some solar oil. Do I remove the clear polish to rub the oil in and let it soak or put it over the polish each night?

Nailtiques formula 2 was the only thing that worked on my nails. I put oil on over the polish 2/3 times a day Smile
