Does lasering work on old veiny legs?

I've got what looks like a bruise on my shin it's been there so long it has to be veins. My legs are my only good asset left! I keep seeing offers on groupon for 30 minutes lasering. Anyone know if it works? I'm not ready for permanent trousers.

For spider veins it can work. Not for varicose veins though. Unfortunately spider veins do come back but lasering is recommended for larger areas. There is also diathermal injections which heat up the broken capilleries so they disappear. (Don't ask me how it works!). This has better results but is usually recommended for smaller areas on the face.

sigh I really need to sort out my mass of spider/thread veins this year.

I've just had a small area of veins zapped on my legs with IPL. Apparently takes 2-3 goes (6 weeks apart). So far it has broken them all up, definitely has done something! Can't wait for the next zap. It was an area of mottling rather than spider veins as such.
I was warned that I needed to rest and put leg up as much as possible for 48 hours. I could feel it, like a sting/burn for awhile. In fact I can feel it again today, so I wouldn't have too big an area done at once. Also need to keep away from the sun, or wear factor 30, so better to do it away from any holidays.
I would be wary of going somewhere not recommended. I knew a lady who had a spider vein done by laser, in a private hospital setting, and ended up with a horrible burn.
