For a new edgy look? Feel so dowdy, and I really want to go for a new look. I love all the punk/ subtle goth looks but am too scared to go for it! I'm also plus size and really need to boost my confidence, any ideas ? Hmm

I've no idea what age you are but no, you're never to old.

primative I could have written your post. I'm 46 but very newly divorced, in marriage I wasn't allowed to express myself (yet he'd have affairs with bold women!)
I've had a tattoo but would love more, I have I piercing but would love more and I have cupboards full of funky hair dye that I'm too chicken to use!!!! We need to get some confidence my girl. Bet you're younger than me. Go for it. Wine cheers

No of course not!

Go for your edgy new look. The look you're going for sounds similar to mine. Go for it, it's an easy style to go for.

Gunting · 07/02/2016 00:54

Also I'm plus sized too, so I understand why you'd be nervous switching style.

My tip is to start small and introduce new items into your wardrobe slowly. Maybe start with something small like rings or a necklace and build up to staple pieces like a jacket.

I love all the ideas ladies. Going to start with hair I think and maybe a little tat. What do you think of this style?

Prim- never too old. I am mid 30s and teach so can't get the tat I really want (top half of arm) without always having to cover it- I can't be bothered with that in summer so plan to get it when I retire.

I have friends who dress in style you describe and look great. Sort of Allsaints with DMS etc. I think it's just a more sophisticated version of what they wore when they were younger e.g. still purple or black polish but not chipped to bits, dark skinny jeans but without rips on knees etc.

BikeRunSki · 07/02/2016 07:50

Mid 30s is not too old for anything!

prettywhiteguitar · 07/02/2016 07:56

Go for it, the hair style is gorgeous !

flanjabelle · 07/02/2016 08:03

Hair is fab! Go for it. as long as you aren't planning on belly tops and mini skirts I think you can get away with an edgy look! I'm thinking black skinny jeans, biker boots, layered look on top, so tight black vest top with over sized grey/burgundy/khaki t shirt over the top. Or a fine knit in similar colours. Biker jacket and chunky scarf. Fab hair cut, subtle makeup. It sounds fantastic. go for it woman!
