Size 20 outfit help needed for night out...

It's a friends special birthday in a couple of weeks and we're going for a meal, drinks then dancing and I desperately need something to wear! Some of the other girls are wearing dresses but not sure I can cope with that!

Can you help me find something that doesn't cost loads but won't make me feel like a frump against the other slimmer girls?

I'm a curvy size 20 and usually would wear jeans and a baggy top but I also can't wear heels because of a foot injury...

How about a jumpsuit?
With pointed flats (metallic would dress it up).
This one is Simply Be Anna Sholz

What shape are you? Pear, apple etc?

I'm a pear shape and feel good in a wrap dress with opaque tights and some big jewellery or some wide leg trousers and a more fitted top.

Catphrase · 06/02/2016 21:42

ladyvlondon.com have some beautiful dresses

thinkfast · 06/02/2016 21:43

Style 8 have done lovely stuff

AuntieMaggie · 06/02/2016 21:49

I'm an hourglass shape with a bit of a belly...

I'm same shape & size & bought this last night in monsoon sale-not my usual but looks good & is comfy - only £17.70, bargain! Love the look of those jumpsuits but would feel silly in it if it were me

That dress looks nice but would show my fat knees Blush

I like the idea of a jumpsuit but how do you go to the loo?

I don't see the point of jumpsuits personally as agree that they are not practical, especially when lots of wine has been drunk Grin!
Phase Eight has various size 20 dress options in their sale. Why not order a few to see which looks best then return those that don't suit?

I have this wrap dress that I bought in November, when it was full price, for a Christmas do. With navy opaques, navy shoe boots and small silver jewellery it isn't too 'blingy' but good for a night out that involves dancing IYSWIM. HTH Smile

ItWillWash · 07/02/2016 12:55

I'm a size 20 and a few nights planned out.

Asos Curve have some nice dresses I'd been considering

AuntieMaggie · 07/02/2016 13:36

Thank you. I like the phase eight wrap dress but it's not in stock in my size

ItWillWash I've been looking at asos but can't decide what will suit me

I'm thinking of getting this one for my sister's wedding/hen night/birthday meal out but it's the only one I've found that I like and I don't want to wear the same dress for all three.

AuntieMaggie · 07/02/2016 21:14

That dress is very pretty but a bit much for my night out

OP posts:
LadyPriggsbottom · 08/02/2016 11:40

Have you found anything OP?

AuntieMaggie · 08/02/2016 12:43

No Sad the problem is I'm not confident enough to know what suits me or what I like is out of stock!

I like the last two dresses you linked to but not sure if the crop on the lace will look funny and the tshirts dress might be clingy...

OP posts:
LadyPriggsbottom · 08/02/2016 13:11

I know how you feel OP! Confidence is such a big factor in picking what to wear. Hate those "nothing looks nice" moments in front of the wardrobe! Sad

Asos prime is quite good. I pay less than £10 per year and I can have clothes delivered next day. Returns are freepost too so I buy loads of things at once, try them on and then send what I don't like back. I sometimes keep everything but usually send a lot back.

LadyPriggsbottom · 08/02/2016 13:22

Sorry should say next day delivery is free with prime - or at least that was the deal when I bought it.

AuntieMaggie · 08/02/2016 17:26

Having to find something to.l.wear with flat shoes complicates it further!

I like this but have this in black

also like this

maybe this

this but bit flowery I think and this

OP posts:
AuntieMaggie · 08/02/2016 17:28

I'm thinking a dark colour so it doesn't matter about drink spills if we go to a.club

OP posts:
RonaldMcDonald · 08/02/2016 18:13

itwillwash

i would reconsider that dress if I were you

I like some of the options but none of the flowery stuff. It makes almost everyone look like a moving sofa

RonaldMcDonald · 08/02/2016 18:16

what about something like this outfit for the night out?

LadyPriggsbottom · 08/02/2016 20:16

I really like the last one you linked to OP with the floral front and black sides. Think that would really flatter an hourglass shape.
