Hi my birthday is fast approaching and a friend & I are planning to treat ourselves to a relaxing spa day.. Can anyone recommend a good spa hotel where we could make a day of it with lunch and champers.. I don't mind london or surrounding areas

The grove, near Watford (!) is lovely. Beautiful grounds, gorgeous spa

No specific hotels to recommend but look on groupon or secret escapes, some good deals on there.

Pennyhill Park is lovely I agree. My favourite is Limewood Spa in the New Forest, it’s so refined and elegant and the service is fantastic. They’ve a beautiful indoor bath in a room with a floor to ceiling window looking into the forest. It’s heaven there!

I’m not a fan of sopwell either. If you can make it to East Mids, Ragdale Hall is great.
