I have had these for ages but never worn them as they don't seem to 'go' with anything. I've tried them with black opaques but it didn't look right at all. So which tights?

well those ones look black! I have these in black and wear them with black opaques

Behooven · 06/02/2016 19:11

They are a really deep ruby, seen alone they look so dark but against black tights the red really comes out.

Dark brown, or a similar very dark red?

TrojanWhore · 06/02/2016 19:34

They're very 1970/80s Sloane Ranger.

Either matching dark tights, or a nude sort of shade.

Plus naice skirt, pie frill blouse, Laura Ashley lamb wool jumper, puffa or husky. And of course pearls.

I wear with pencil skirts for work. I like a block heel, and have to negotiate mud on my way in, it wipes off patent.

LadyPriggsbottom · 07/02/2016 07:55

Navy tights? Maybe with a full, short skater skirt.

JackandDiane · 07/02/2016 10:00

Black tailored trousers. Fishnet pop socks

The problem is in the first line of your post .

Sorry . Charity shop them .

dark oxblood shoes go with everything!!!! I have a pair of hamble oaks in a dark oxblood colour. They look fine with black opaques. If you think it looks a little odd then wear a shearer black tight - maybe 60 denier. They will look fine :)

1981 called it wants Miss Muxlow's shoes back.

Behooven · 07/02/2016 19:12

Twinklestein · 07/02/2016 22:52

Behooven · 07/02/2016 23:15

Miss Muxlow was my RE teacher in 1981 for those at the back.

OP, you've been warned.

I love these.
Can you wear 3/4 length culottes?
Long wide legged trousers.
off duty what about boyfriend jeans or peg trousers

They're too high for me personally but I like them, especially Ronald's and Burnished's sugestions.

So what if they have sloaney/schoolteacher connotations? That's how fashion works. I like it when an old look is re-invented, makes me smile.

LadyPriggsbottom · 08/02/2016 14:03

I didn't say previously as you didn't ask in op, but I really like them.

Behooven · 08/02/2016 17:57

Thanks, they are very comfortable even thought they're higher than normal for me..
