I normally use tinted moisturiser but wanting a foundation - been a long time since I wore any and I don't know where to start! I have a reasonable budget (£30 ish) but too nervous to approach counters - should I be?? I tried a soap and glory one on my hand in boots and I can't get it off my hand, glad I didn't put any on my face!
Grr :-( feeling crap about my appearance!!

Go to the counter! Tell them your needs and they will direct you to something nice. Pick up some samples from several counters and test at home. You ca. Then decide on best colour match and feel and Ho back and get the real deal. I recommend Chanel Vitalumiere but didn't get on with Estée Lauder Doublewear.

I think going to the counters is the way to go - I just hope they are kind to me! :-/

They will be, they want your money Grin

Honestly nothing to worry about we aren't all oil paintings and neither are the counter girls but very well made up hence a good advert!

I second Chanel. Vitalumiere is lovely - moisturising and dewy with just the right level of coverage. If you have oily skin Aqualumiere is oil free and has a light fresh looking finish. Their new one is supposed to be the holy grail of foundations. Think it's called lift lumiere. I've not tried it yet but will be buying as soon as my current one runs out.

I really want to try YSL touche eclat foundation.

I'm looking for a new foundation at the moment and just today went round Boots asking for samples - not a problem from anyone, although you have to put up with them up selling other products and make up consultations, but you just refuse with a smile.

Today I go generous samples of YSL Touche Eclat, Estee Lauder Double Wear and Chanel Aqua Vitalumiere. The YSL assistant said her sample should last a week and they are about the same size. I also got a primer sample from the YSL counter too as I asked about it too.

Armani Luminous Silk is lovely and suits most people. They will give you a sample to try.

Eclat Opulent by By Terry is amazing but very expensive. Having said that, a little goes a long way. It's my going out and special occasion foundation. It makes you look like you're not wearing make up but have great skin!
