Why can't I wear lipstick?!

I have tried a variety of colours and I always look like a clown. My friends didn't believe me until I showed them using a selection of their lipsticks. I do have fairly full lips (not massive but certainly plump). Am I just destined to be a lip gloss person or am I missing a trick?

I use a lip liner to colour in all my lips, in a tone fairly close to the lip natural colouring and then a tinted gloss, which I find gives a good finish and it is long lasting too. I like Rimmel lip pencils.

I actually have the benefit lollibalm and I love it :)

Will try some other shades out. I wish the lighting in boots was better because colours always look different after I buy them and see them in natural light.
