I wash my face frequently as mine is oily face. I avoid scrubs, but try nighttime moisturizer before bed.

I have dry/sensitive skin which reacts easily to product to I try and do as little as I can to it.

I use the 3 step Proactiv. It'd brilliant and really clearing my skin up.

AM - wash with l'Occitane facial soap, serum and moisturise.

PM - if wearing make up cleanse with hot wash cleanser followed by washing with aforementioned soap, or if no make up just use the soap to wash, then serum and moisturise with night cream.

I have even tempered, combination skin and change brands regularly.

However for you I would first determine why your face is oily.

Is it due to dehydration? I dehydrated skin will naturally try to lubricate itself...thus producing the excess oil.

Is it hormonal? Normally a hormonal skin will follow a pattern that co insides with your menstrual cycle.

Or its it generally just very oily?

I would advise an antibacterial skin wash to get rid of the bacteria on the skin and then a more gentle cleaner to soothe the skin.

Exfoliating twice a week as a minimum will also help.

Moisturiser is essential. Morning and night

My skin gets really dry in winter but I was still getting spots! I used to use extra mild baby soap but it has got so much better since I stopped using that and now just give my face a rinse in hot water in the shower in the morning and put moisturiser on. I think stopping touching my face in the day was probably what did it.

PS sorry OP my post isn't much use to you with oily skin!

My skin is capable of producing loads of oil too, but it's also dehydrated. It helps to hydrate it, cuts down on the oiliness. Also, feck oiliness, what does it matter if I'm a bit shiny? In the 18th century faces were supposed to be shiny, and hair was supposed to be matte. So there we go. (Although I have a face powder ;) ) This is my most common routine:

• Oil cleansing with Babor Cleansing System Hy-Öl
• Low-PH foam cleansing; thank you to the reddit Asian Beauty for letting me know about low-PH cleansing! - Babor Cleansing system gel tonic 2 in one (Babor was on offer you see)
• Toner - Cosrx Centella Water Alcohol Free Toner for some extra moisture. I've got COSRX BHA and AHA liquids aswell, which count as a sort of "acid toning", but I'm not using them that much right now, I think I overdid it
• Beauté Pacifique Clinical Super3 Booster, which is a retinol cream and DA BOMB. I have to put it on nearest my face so that goes first
• Benton Snail Bee High Content Essence which is DA BOMB omg
• Bensoyl peroxide cream because acne :((( (but the BP has helped, and since adding the Super3 booster and my lovely lovely Benton Essence I've noticed a VAST improvement)
• a moisturiser (local Swedish chemist's brand, it's grand)

AM

• quick cleanse (using the oil and a flannel or the foaming wash in the shower, whatever)
• the centella toner
• Bensoyl peroxide maybe, depending if I think I need more of it
• Hydrating serum (local chemist's brand, very cheap and surprisingly good)
• Moisturiser
• Sunscreen when the sun returns anyway, haven't bothered in dec-jan
• BB cream etc.

AM and PM is the same for me!

Either wash face with Dove soap and / or cleanse with Garnier Micellar Water, then moisturise with Nivea Creme. Think I need to take better care of my skin really as I go without makeup a few days a week, but sadly I don't really have the budget at the moment. It doesn't seem to be doing me too much harm. Maybe less is more for my skin!
