Day dresses. What shoes?

Please help. I want to wear dresses as trousers do nothing for me, but I'm struggling with footwear. I can't walk in heels, and when I try boots I always feel a bit panto cos I have skinny legs. I feel like I'm missing something. What do dress-wearers who also need to be comfy wear on their feet? Would be very grateful for any ideas.

I wear trainers

nancy75 · 03/02/2016 13:43

I usually bear lace up brogues and thick tights with a dress, or books cut very low on the ankle

I wear these www.clarks.co.uk/s/hamble%20oak. I have them in quite a few colours now.

NoMilkNoSugar · 03/02/2016 16:49

Similar to what nick has posted or ballet pumps.

Sparklycat · 03/02/2016 17:22

Ballet flats

madmomma · 03/02/2016 20:15

Thanks guys. I have some of those Hamble oaks but they pinch my feet. Ballet flats are a possibility. Huge feet and skinny calves look faintly silly in all shoes I figure. Am intrigued by low cut boots. I need to see some...

I think I'd look a cock in trainers and a dress. Not that I'd think that about other people, but I'm about as funky as a ford escort, and I don't think I could carry it off in an insouciant manner.

I'd go with something like this...

http://www.clarks.co.uk/p/26115131

(They have elastic inserts at the side so they don't pinch)

Love the silver for the spring and maybe dark ones with tights for now....

Btw if you want to go higher... I find mid heels at Clarks very 'walkable' Smile

madmomma · 03/02/2016 20:45

Thanks cissy I'm going to look at the Clarks website now

It depends on the dress. I wear loafers, knee high wedge boots, ankle boots or brogues depending on the style and length of the dress.

amarmai · 04/02/2016 01:04

jeffrey campbell has great boots.

madmomma · 05/02/2016 20:35

Thanks for replying. X I've got some ballet flats and I'm going to look for a nice pair of loafers. Bought some cheapo ankle boots (£6 from tesco!!!) but Dd assures me I look a tool in them with a dress, so they'll have to go with my jeans. That Jeffery Campbell website is very interesting!!!
