I've been invited to my first proper posh do at end of March- I absolutely love the dress that Vesper wore in Casino Royale - can you help me find something similar please? I'm a 5' 3" hourglass

Oh crikey that's too much cleavage, love. By 'hourglass' do you mean you carry some weight? No offence meant.

Chorltonswheelies422 · 31/01/2016 13:53

No offence taken thirtynineweeks. I'm a size 8/10 with full bust and my bust and hips are about the same size and my waist is very small.

You will look so stunning!!

CaveMum · 31/01/2016 14:16

Budget? Colour preference? Black is very safe, but sometimes colour is better.

herecomesthsun · 31/01/2016 14:19

As a small-waisted hourglass/pear though I have found that you can't beat trying stuff on to check that it suits your bust-waist -hips.

Also, if you are going for a style like Vesper's, bust support will be important. It might be with the right (very well-made) dress that you don't need a separate bra even. However, slip dresses are majorly on trend, but they often don't allow either for supporting boobs or for subtly incorporating solid underpinnings.

I have looked on TK Maxx, Bustier and Monsoon so far and not found anything...

BooAvenue · 31/01/2016 14:21

How big are your boobs? I think if your boobs are above a C that dress could look a little obscene! It's lovely though.

Chorltonswheelies422 · 31/01/2016 14:32

Thanks everyone -

Budget is £500 - I just had a birthday and a bonus so could stretch to that and I really do want to look good.

Black would be perfect.

Boobs are a 28c

Black

Monochrome

Purple - my favourite Grin

CaveMum · 31/01/2016 14:37

Cross-posted, with that budget you could buy all three of my suggestions!

Look at House of Fraser, Debenhams, Asos.

icklekid · 31/01/2016 14:43

This obviously doesn't have the straps but is stunning and there are others on their site (they even have a bond girl dress section) www.littleblackdress.co.uk/dresses/black-dresses/natalya-couture-natasha-dress-in-black

herecomesthsun · 31/01/2016 14:50

matches

osman

Galan

Matches sale - long black and slinky but not really similar necklines I'm afraid.

Loving all the body shaming here. So what if youve got big boobs? Where whatever you like. I've got 32e and I would wear that dress. I'm not covering up just because other people think that a certain body part being exposed is wrong. Eurgh.

love Vespers dress OP. Have no advice where to find one like it but is beautiful.

Mytholmroyd · 31/01/2016 14:58

www.theprettydresscompany.com/fashion/Fatale-Black-Fishtail-Gown.html

in black red or cobalt. french crepe and boned bodice - great quality dresses IME for the price although well within your budget

BooAvenue · 31/01/2016 14:58

Well I'm an F and if I wore that dress my boobs would be literally falling out of it. It's not body shaming to point that out. I never said the OP shouldn't wear it if she had big boobs, just that it might be a little unflattering.

Chorltonswheelies422 · 31/01/2016 15:09

Truly grateful for all your store recommendations - I lurk about in style and beauty and have learnt about lots of stores I'd never heard of

great suggestions - working through them

Cavemum - the purple is my favourite too - thank you

Icklekid - thank you - lovely dress - I haven't come across this company before

Herecomesthesun - the matches one is lovely

Virginiawoofs - agree with you - I should make the most of my natural assets.

Just once I would love to make a few heads turn

Is it black tie or white tie?

subtly sexy?

Towardsthesun · 31/01/2016 15:12

Beautiful suggestions. I think any of them would look amazing.

SnuffleGruntSnorter · 31/01/2016 15:15

reasonably similar?

FauxFox · 31/01/2016 15:20

fishtail
sequins
embellished shoulders
ghost

cathyandclaire · 31/01/2016 15:25

It looks like a Narciso Rodriguez dress I think, so maybe worth keeping an eye out on Ebay/ vestaire collective?
Something like this one but don't get excited even in the sale it is still eye-wateringly expensive.

starsinyourpies · 31/01/2016 16:47

With that budget I would definitely look at Vivienne Westwood, brilliant for hourglass.

StatisticallyChallenged · 31/01/2016 17:06

Ach well I'm a 30HH, and that sort of neckline suits me and looks far from obscene. A 28C is a fairly small bust really (no offense op, it's probably very in proportion to your frame, just mean it's hardly Katie Price territory!), and all C cups are not the same. A 28C has much less breast volume that a 38C.

In fact I'd say that dress needs some decent breasts, and ones which are relatively close set (or respond well to the right bra), as it would be spoiled by a visible gap between the breasts.
