Long coat to go over midi skirts - ideally fitted

Oh clever people….. Midi skirts are all well and good. Until you need to leave the house and realise all your coats are too short and look utterly crap. Wondering if there is anything suitable I can pick up in sales before they are over? Since most of my midi skirts are A-line I guess I need something vaguely fitted rather than boxy. Can anyone point me in the right (and ideally cheapish) direction??

Tried bomber jacket the other day, but fear am not young or cool enough to pull of that sort of directional look…. Surely someone out there can help?

Yes also following as struggle with this too. Saw a girl on the tube wearing a cropped leather jacket with hers and a big scarf. It looked warm and cool.

My midis are pleated which makes it even harder to find something to wear with them. Can only wear them on mild dry days at the mo!

How far down do the skirts go? If below the knee i'd think something thats cut at the hips?

If knee height then I got this m.zalando.co.uk/oasis-classic-coat-damson-oa221p006-i11.html?gclid=CI62h-y1ysoCFUqdGwod8EYHig&size=10&wmc=SEM44_CR_EN_2103106.&opc=2211&ef_id=Ve29uQAAAcvQxhMB:20160127163343:s

And its lovely, I'm 5'4 and it sits just on the knee on me.
