Makeup for a Novice

I've never really bothered with makeup, and don't intend to go from nothing to full face every day, but I'm thinking of adding a bit of it to my routine.

Today I got Boots No7 tinted moisturiser, which is just about my speed. My face feels so soft!

I wear glasses, so should I bother with eye makeup? Did I read somewhere that one should do eyes or lips, but never both? Any top tips?

I posted this the other day on a similar thread.

Match all foundation, concealer and powder to your collar bone/chest area. It means that you don't get that mismatch of colour between face and body. Laura Mercier do a great tinted moisturiser that looks very natural but still offers coverage.

Agree that decent brushes help, but they don't have to be expensive. Look at Real Techniques, Zoeva and Sigma.

Try to work out if you are warm toned or cool toned. Loads of websites out there to help. This will help with deciding on bronzer, blush and lipstick colours.

Different colour eyeshadows will make your eyes stand out - I have green eyes so wear lots of purple and copper shades.

Eyebrows can make a big difference. A universally flattering shade is grey - especially for brunettes. Typically brown eyebrow pencils/palettes are too red toned. Bobbi Brown do a great eye shadow in Slate with a brush for eyebrows or also a eyebrow pencil in Grey.
