Anyone every ordered from SheIn?

My daughter wants to order some clothes from a website called SheIn. I've never heard of them before so thought I'd see if anyone here has used them first.

Yes I've placed 3 orders over the last year and have been thrilled with it. Now there is a lot of tat on there and you really need to read the reviews and look at the photos that customers have uploaded but they do have some gems. I got a Self Portrait style dress - my friend has the exact same dress but hers is the real deal and I swear mine looks better. Mine was £24 and hers was £350! I also got a gorgeous Chloe Drew lookalike bag and their knitwear is really good quality and a bit unusual - origami style or with lace etc. If I look in my wardrobe now, the pieces that get the most comments are from Sheinside. Now you do have to wait for your delivery - leave up to a month. It will come and you won't have to pay tax. It all comes rolled up in the smallest package imaginable and can be creased but nothing an iron can't sort out. The sizing is tiny which I like so size up. I'm 6/8 but would order small or medium never extra small. And don't write it off for yourself either - I'm 43 and think it's ace - I've got a wedding next month and got a gorgeous thick boiled wool felt like trench style wrap coat in a stunning bright burgundy shade - can't wait to wear it and it was £18 - a friend saw it in my kitchen after I'd ironed it and asked if it was MaxMara!!

sweetheart · 25/01/2016 13:33

ohhh thanks Jmangel - have you ever sent anything back? I'm wondering how easy their returns process is?

OP posts:
Jmangel · 25/01/2016 14:14

No I've never needed to but they do have a returns policy - not sure how much P&P would be though back to Hong Kong especially for bulky items - could be sore! tbh the prices are so low that it would almost be worth the risk. I have placed large orders each time around the £70 mark in order to get free P&P so even if one or two items weren't right it would still be worth it overall iykwim. Luckily I've loved everything but I've double checked measurements, read every review and zoomed in super close on material detail. I'm super fussy but have been very happy.

Hi, I too have found some great items there for my kids and myself too (nice to stay trendy 😉). Just wondering what you mean when you say that you don't have to pay tax on items you buy from their website?! Will they be sent from America or China ? How come there's no tax on them? Thanks , any help I can get would be greatly appreciated, as have had lots of different answers from different websites ??! Ta

Jmangel · 21/08/2017 13:43

This is an old thread but I'm still here! The clothes are sent from Hong Kong via Belgium and I think it's the Belgian stop over that means that no additional tax is charged - also it's courier delivery not Post Office led so I don't know if that makes the tax avoidance more achievable?
I'm still ordering from Sheen fairly regularly and have never had a tax charge on receipt of delivery.

Ellejones · 22/08/2017 09:58

Ah thank you so much for your reply! Really helped out -- I've heard quite a few bad thins about shein but I'm going to risk it just this once! Btw - could I b cheeky and ask another question - How much is the P&P normally (I have found an order worth £39) ?! Thanks for your help

CockneyRhymer · 22/08/2017 10:12

What's the length like? I like the look of lots of their stuff but am pretty tall so don't want to order if it comes up short.

Ellejones · 22/08/2017 21:33

I've heard that because it's clothing from China, sizing is normally quite small so they recommend that you get at least one size up. Plus, it you scroll over the size you're thinking of getting, it tells you the length of their items, waist dimensions etc ....

Scabetty · 22/08/2017 22:17

My dd had to pay tax on her recent order before DHL would deliver.

Ellejones · 24/08/2017 18:15

Was it a lot? Did your order say that there would be tax involved? Thnx for your comment btw :))

Scabetty · 24/08/2017 18:43

I think about £3.50 on a £20 order. It seemed to be a surprise to her. Only used them a couple of times and this was first time extra payment requested.

LockedOutOfMN · 24/08/2017 21:13

Please don't use Shein.

babbling1 · 25/07/2018 14:13

I should have listened to the reviews! Just received my first (and last) order. I read reviews and descriptions if each priduct carefully, but made the mistake of expecting a t-shirt dress to be cotton, not the cheap, scratchy polyester fabric I received. Second item was supposed to be cotton, but is actually 65% polyester, and the embroidery and construction aren’t good. Both are way too small, even though I ordered a generous suze according to their measurement. Worst of alk, there’s not even a packing slip, si ni possibility if returns (as reviews had said).
If you want to take a chance, be prepared to lose your money.

Jonsetta · 26/07/2018 22:17

Don't order it's a huge con. You won't get your money back if you send back, you have to pay then they make contact impossible and ignore all emails! Not happy!

Grazy1985 · 16/11/2019 21:37

As the other reviewer has said I wish there were a negative rating I could use for Shein. They are scams! What you see online and what you get are two different things. The cheapest quality ever. And the free return is even a bigger lie!!!!! You literally cannot return anything which is not mentioned when you are shopping and they are robbing you of your money. They are based in China and I am sure all the review they also have online is a lie. I bet they have paid a few pennies per person and to post those good reviews. Stay away from shein!!!!!! For beginning my first two orders work fine and then when I start to trust the website I do over £200 over shopping 19 items they send me one single item worth less than £12 and telling me to go to my neighbours to look for the rest of the items because the came in different package . Now they completely ignoring i’m trying to contact them they stop respond and not give my money back And is Impossible To return any item.

Leflic · 17/11/2019 00:33

My step daughter uses Shein and her stuff looks great. Pretty sure it’s the same Chinese factories that supply our high street shops.

HermioneWeasley · 17/11/2019 08:45

Awful stuff - poor quality fabric and tiny sizes. Difficult returns means it’s nit worth bothering so you’re stuck with it if you don’t like it

Newschapter · 17/11/2019 09:01

I ordered a jumper which I loved so ordered a white sailor style straight dress.

I wish I could show you it in person... It's awful. See through, scratchy, the buttons won't stay closed despite it not being too small.... I only ever tried it on and have never actually worn it.

It's so poor I wouldn't even insult a charity shop by donating it!

Foulds · 21/11/2019 11:34

Placed an order for a top for my wife, it arrived, was found to have what looked like a cigarette burn on it.

Filled in the return, sent it off using the label through them, and clearly marking it as faulty/damaged.

Despite UK consumer law stating the seller has to cover the cost of original postage, and also the cost for return, I've been charged 2 sets of postage, and it's been deducted with no advice as to why.

Because the quality was so bad, and they don't follow consumer law, I would definitely recommend against using.

Alextrey27 · 24/05/2020 12:47

Hi
I’m new to this and to SHEIN I don’t normally shop with them but they are one of the only companies try I sell funny trendy slogan T-shirt’s but was wondering if their sizing was correct for example I usually wear an extra large so should I order one size bigger
Thank you

Elllllle · 24/05/2020 13:31

Don't waste your money.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 24/05/2020 16:47

I use them lots and the sizes are listed so measure yourself and check.almost everything I’ve had is lovely one or two a bit rubbish fabric but if you do a zoom in on the pictures you can usually tell what it’s like. There are reviews on most items and photos the only issue is that the jumpers I have are a little short for my plus size frame but to be fair you can tell that on the pics. Be discerning and read the description and reviews and you will end up with some nice stuff. They do take a few weeks to arrive though so be patient

nuttymomma · 24/05/2020 20:09

I've gotten a few things and the quality has been fine and the returns have been fine too.

StepAwayFromTheEcclesCakes · 26/05/2020 16:30

My latest order arrived today and it’s all fab, came quite quickly too!

Kerrylc · 08/07/2020 04:35

I ordered from shein years ago before it was cool and the quality was rubbish.
Jumped on the TIkTok trend and thought I’d try again. Everything I have bought has been great! Good quality, comfy, good sizing.
Returns are also easy! Log on to the website, say you are returning and print the returns slip for free.
