What to wear to a dinner dance?

I'm going as a friends plus one to his company's dinner dance and I'm a bit stuck on what to wear.
I think I know what I want but can't find much like it.

I am 5foot3, size 12, small boobs, bigger round the stomach and thighs.
Short trendy hair.

I have put a picture of something I like, but I'd probably not want sleeveless and a nicer colour. I imagine it wouldn't be so puffy in person!

Any ideas of somewhere good to look? I've looked allover and just seem to find endless floor length ball gowns, which I wouldn't mind wearing but I think the other style would suit my figure possibly.

Any help would be much appreciate!

I think that dress you have posted is a bit OTT for a dinner dance. I would just wear a smartish dress and some heels. A dinner dance seems like such an old fashioned thing - something my parents (in their 70's) would go to!

I know I thought the same, it does seem old fashioned doesn't it. The best part is I'm a terrible eater and I can't dance! However, I can drink alcohol and show my friend up with embarrassing stories from when we were younger so not all is lost!

I realise that one is a bit OTT but it's more the style I'm wanting but a toned down version. So nice and fitted at the top where I'm smallest then bigger at the bottom to cover my lumps and bumps

I had a very similar problem it's my company dinner dance next week. Last Saturday I had an appointment with debenhams personal shopper service. It was amazing I got dress shoes and bag. It's a free service.
