What to wear to meeting tomorrow?

I am freelance. I have no office clothes anymore. Meetings are usually with clients I know and I would wear, for example, black mini with opaques and ankle boots and a jumper.

Tomorrow I have to meet and impress a new head honcho type at one of my clients offices. I had planned to wear long wide leg grey tweed tailored trousers, black jumper and medium heel black mary jane shoes peeping out.

Sadly I had planned to buy the shoes and trousers today and got bogged down in work instead I have had a big try on and am left with the following options:

Option 1:
Navy midi tube skirt, nude tights, Navy suede mary-jane wedge heels and a grey long sleeved or grey ribbed half sleeve jumper.

Option 2:
Black midi length full skirt with nude tights, pointy black stilettos and a black or grey long sleeve jumper or grey ribbed half sleeve jumper.

Which is better? I wish I had trousers but I literally only have jeans and that is not going to be smart enough - aaaargh!

Do you have a blazer to add to either outfit? That would smarten it up straight away.

Of the two, I like the sound of the black skirt with either of the grey jumpers. Probably the ribbed one as it sounds more fitted to offset the full skirt.

There are some business wear experts on here so hopefully one will be along shortly!

Thanks Awkward - I think option 2 is probably smarter but the shoes take it nearly into cocktail party wear...

I have a black blazer but it looks a mess with the black skirt and doesn't match the blue

I have just ordered 3 pairs of trousers online so I won't be in this predicament again

Which outfit do you feel more comfortable in? Because if you're uncomfortable it'll affect your focus and that's more important for this meeting than your outfit.

Have you got any boots, to make the midi skirt less cocktail? Heeled ankle boots would be good.

Yes agree completely - whichever one you feel most relaxed in. Both sound fine for the occasion.

Thanks Remus I have black suede heeled ankle boots, two pairs of black knee boots so I could def try them with the black skirt and see if that works.

I feel OK in either outfit I think, having not met this guy before I just want to come over as professional (not sexy or too casual) and trousers would have been perfect! Think i'll see how i feel in the morning. I'm prob overthinking it

Black suede boots sound good. Black suede and and grey ribbed jumper sounds as if it would be a lovely combo.
