dermalogica (cheaper!) alternatives

New Years resolution is to take proper care of my skin so I was just wondering if anyone can recommend some skincare products?

Had a skin mapping last week at dermalogica and they recommended the following. I am thinking of getting a couple from their range but can't afford everything at this price range! I really liked the products but just wondered what you would recommend from their range or whether there is an as good cheaper alternative!

So they recommended ( mid 30s normal - slightly dehydrated skin)
-essential cleansing solution ( I liked this)

• multivitamin thermofoliant ( this was great I never exfoliate and think I need to start!)
• ultra calming mist ( didn't rate this that much)

-Breakout control (she recommended as I get the odd breakout but didn't get a sample do not sure how well this works)

• skin hydrating booster ( think this sounds good for the dehydration)

-skin smoothing cream (felt good) -solar defends booster ( often use citiblock so don't think I need this)

• intensive eye repair ( looking for some kind of eye cream )

Can you afford the cleansing solution and skin smoothing cream. If you buy online you can sometimes choose samples so get a few other things that way.

Admittedly I love dermalogica and anything else wrecks my skin.

Thanks yes MsGee can probably afford to get a couple of things. Does anyone else have any recommendations? Or thoughts on the best products to splurge on?

I have used Dermalogica for years, it sucks you in as it works!

-essential cleansing solution ( I liked this) - I have used this but I always revert to the Ultra Calming cleanser as I find it better for my sensitive skin. The bigger bottles are better value and although it looks very expensive, it lasts months.

• multivitamin thermofoliant ( this was great I never exfoliate and think I need to start!) - I have never tried this but have used the daily microfoliant and didn't like it. I use St Ives exfoliant once a week in the shower instead. I have the Dermalogica brush and sometimes use this with the cleanser which I find is better for my credit card.
• ultra calming mist ( didn't rate this that much) I have never tried this but I may wrongly assume a water spritzer would do a similar job?

-Breakout control (she recommended as I get the odd breakout but didn't get a sample do not sure how well this works) - I haven't used this but have used their spot treatment which works by drying up the spot. It is very intensive, I would say too intensive. A bottle lasts forever though.

• skin hydrating booster ( think this sounds good for the dehydration) This is my favourite product in the world. I use it once a year when the weather turns cold. It is too expensive for me to continue using year round and because it really works, I don't believe I need to use it continuously. I highly recommend it. My face feels and (I think( looks more youthful after using it.

-skin smoothing cream (felt good) I have used this for years and although i have tried other moisturisers in between, I have never finished them and unfailingly return to skin smoothing cream. -solar defends booster ( often use citiblock so don't think I need this) - I have never used this so can't review. I have used their barrier repair and again I really like the product itself, how it feels etc but I can't afford to use it all the time.

• intensive eye repair ( looking for some kind of eye cream ) I have used this and went to other products afterwards (reasoning that any cream would be better than none). I am terrible at remembering to use eye cream though.

My staples are the skin smoothing moisturiser and ultracalming cleanser. When I can afford it, I buy the skin hydrating booster. Any of the others can be substituted but I don't believe I will find anything better (within that price range) than those three products.

Hi. I have dry/sensitive skin and I've used Dermalogica for years. My staples are : Skin Smoothing Cream (I switch to Intensive Moisture Balance in the winter when my skin is drier) Essential Cleansing Solution (I find the Ultra Calming isn't thick enough for my taste) and Daily Microfoliant (though I only use this once or twice a week as my skin is sensitive). I get my products online from Norwich Health Shop. They send you loads of samples - I usually ask for the face masks/pre cleanse so I can do at home facials!

I've been looking for ages for cheaper alternatives with no success! As someone else on here said anything else seems to wreck my skin too :(

I don't love all their products but the Special Cleansing Gel is my holy grail face wash. www.lafantine.com are the most competitively priced I've found and a 500ml bottle lasts me at least 10 months. This is perhaps cheaper than buying something else and then using too much each day just to use it up quickly.

I use beautythings.co.uk they were cheapest for me with the best customer care, the woman who runs it has been amazing to me

I started using dermalogica but found it was targeted too much at problem skin. I used body shop aloe range when my skin was going through a bad patch due to health issues but now use the seaweed range. Body shop have decent offers on so its all very reasonable and gentle (I felt dermalogica might damage/age my skin in the long run)

Hi can anyone tell me the cheapest place online to buy Dermalogica? Am very wary about buying products that aren’t the real thing, yet am struggling to justify John Lewis prices
