Do you wear pyjamas at home

In the day or the evening? It's not very often I'm at home during the day but when I get home from work and shopping at the weekends I change into my pyjamas. I feel though that if I was in during the day, unless I was unwell, I wouldn't feel right in pyjamas all day. However wearing my clothes at home means they get creased and full of cat hairs.

I cannot refer to them as PJs because the phrase irritates me so much, but I do wear pyjamas around the house .
When getting up in the morning to make coffee, and often get into them early to watch TV on the sofa .

I take them off to sleep . Too hot and tangly round my arms and legs.

I am SAHM, I don't wear pj's to sleep in but right now, because I don't have to go out (one DS ill, DH sorting SR) I am still wearing what I put on when I got out of bed - bright blue silk pj bottoms and a supersoft navy men's cashmere jumper I picked up at a charity shop for £10 last week. Comfy and cosy and not too embarrassing to answer the door in. As for my day starting - everyone leaving the house has been fed, brushed, dressed and sent to school, I've tidied four beds, put a wash on, dishwasher loaded, kitchen clean, emailed a client and I'm on MN...when did my day start?! Back to the OP, I always change out of 'smarter' clothes and into comfier stuff at home, more often leggings or slouchy jersey and a soft top/cardigan than pj's but it works to look after my nicer clothes, not concerned about cooking and getting food on stuff that needs careful cleaning or getting creases in stuff and also because I feel more relaxed.

I change into pyjamas (usually pyjama trousers and a normal jumper in the winter, plus Uggs, in summer a t-shirt or vest on top) when I get in from work. I wouldn't want to sit around the house in my work clothes, and would feel daft changing into a whole different casual outfit. I don't actually sleep in my pyjamas though, they really are for lounging in.

champagneplanet · 21/01/2016 12:11

Not during the day, if I'm just staying in I'll wear leggings and a vest plus hoody/fleece if it's cold. like to have a shower or bath after work before I put my pjs on, so would normally put my leggings etc on to cook tea, tidy up and put DD to bed.

At the weekend I'll eat breakfast and then always get changed into leggings, however at the weekend if we're staying in during the evening I do like to sit in my pjs!

Never acceptable for the school run though Grin

Thanks for your replies. I feel better now about wearing my PJs. I don't wear them in bed either, I change into a nightie.

What do you wear at home in the summer? I find PJs or anything on my legs too hot.

I only wear pants in bed so my pyjamas are for lounging around the house, so they are just and comfy alternative to daywear.

CoolToned · 21/01/2016 23:51

Yes. Especially during Winter. When I'm just staying at home, I wear PJs the whole day. But I change everyday if I wear it for longer than just sleeping.

Oly5 · 22/01/2016 22:04

I wear comfy clothes rather than PJs... Yoga pants and a long sleeved top and hoody... Slim fit joggers with a nice jumper. One step up from PJs. I don't want my other half to only see me in PJs..
However I really wish I was one of those who put make up on every day!

WeepingInTheBushes · 22/01/2016 22:38

Yup I get out of my suit and into jamas at the earliest opportunity when I get home on work days. I can't see the point of changing into 'comfy clothes' and then into bed gear, it's just doubling laundry and I hate that thing where clothes have been worn a few times and are neither clean nor dirty. So I just rotate pjs v regularly. I'm always up and out on week days so feels like a treat to breakfast in pyjamas and plan what I feel like wearing on sat/sun if we are not racing out the door to something. So, yes, I'm a huge jamas fan!

ScouseQueen · 23/01/2016 00:20

Yes, I change into them each day after work and DC bedtime. Don't sleep in them though.

UntilTheCowsComeHome · 23/01/2016 01:40

I don't wear my pjs until bed time or occasionally after a late shower if I'm staying up to watch TV for a bit after.

I usually wear leggings or some loose summer jogger type things I got last year, with a vest top or Tshirt and a slouchy cardi. That's my 'lounge wear'

AcrossthePond55 · 23/01/2016 02:19

I wear pj bottoms with tshirts with a big cardi and fluffy socks around the house. Bliss. But only my 'day pj bottoms'. I have different 'night pjs' to wear to bed.

Sunbeam18 · 24/01/2016 01:07

Wow, interesting! I'd feel depressed wearing pyjamas all day in the house and it's a very rare day that I wouldn't go out at all. I would never have a day where I didn't do my make up and hair either as it would feel like a 'non day' to me. I like to think I'm always ready if the option to do something great arises!

Gwenhwyfar · 24/01/2016 02:50

"it falls into the category of "things I had no idea people did until I came on MN". "

Wow. You'd get a shock where I live. People wear pyjamas to the shops, even slippers sometimes.
