I see size guides that say they are equal, some say AU is 1 size bigger, e.g. AU14 = UK12.

In your experience, what is it really?

Yes that's my experience. If I'm a 12 uk I'm a 14 Aus

rubybleu · 19/01/2016 02:31

Yes (am Australian) - I'm always a 10 in the UK and generally an 8 at home.

Another thing to keep in mind is that mid-market and upwards Australian brands are cut for a broader shouldered, taller woman on average.

rubybleu · 19/01/2016 02:32

Sorry, I'm the other way around in that case - I buy a size smaller in Australia. Australian sizing is more generous than UK sizing in my experience.

I buy online a lot. UK sizzing is one size smaller than Aus. So UK 12 = au10

Newbrummie · 19/01/2016 13:14

I agree I'm smaller in Aussie sizes

AnotherCider · 19/01/2016 14:49

Agree, Aussie sizes you go down, amost (but not quite) a full size, especially for things like skirts etc. So a UK 14-16 would be a definite Aus 14.
