Dress Code - Smart dress

Horse racing on Saturday - dress code as above. I can't decide if smart black trousers or dress the better option. If dress was thinking of on the knee with long boots. Would this be ok? I have a smart wool coat to wear.

I would go for smart dress and ankle boots, not long ones.

Dress and boots. In this weather, I think long boots would be fine. It'll be cold!

I'm going to the races on Saturday with the same dress code...I'd go with the dress and boots...I'll be wearing the same!

Thanks. I've got a smart black dress and black wool coat. Hmmming over the boots - going to try the long ones later and if unsure will get some smart ankle boots - only have my everyday ones and they are a bit scruffy.
