Help - make up counters Edinburgh - lessons

Could anyone give me some guidance here please!

Am taking my 15 year old niece and her friend on a visit to Edinburgh and I thought it would useful for them to have a make up lesson. Do the cosmetic counters in eg John Lewis / Jenners do this? And if so do you have to book and pay, or make some purchases? And where is a friendly counter at the moment?

I don't have a clue about this so any suggestions would be gratefully received!

Bobbi brown is good but only in jenners, not John Lewis. I don't rate the staff in JL at all.

Mac would probably be good but you do need to book. They are in Harvey Nichols.

Otherwise, book a make up artist. I highly recommend Karen Keddie. She's in Fife but does travel. You need to book her. She uses a different range of products from rimmel to Mac.

Thanks snowypenguin. That's very helpful. Will check out Bobbi Brown and Mac.

I second the recommendation for Bobbi Brown and agree Jenners is better than JL. Don't go to the other HoF as they don't have BB (if that's what you want). Staff are friendly, helpful and absolutely don't do a hard sell. Very refreshing!

If you want a JL recommendation, the staff Clinique are lovely (imo) and it's at the lower price range for high end.

I had a lovely look done at the Guerlain counter in JL but that's probably not suitable for teens - although you might be interested :)

MAC counter is always heaving so if you want to go there definitely book. BB you can just turn up provided it isn't too busy.

Thanks flipinada - Bobbi Brown at Jenners it is (and I'll remember the Guerlain recommendation for the future!)
