hand cream/miracle needed for dishpan hands!

They are not dry but look utterly shite- dd says they are Granny hands I am guilty of not using hand cream/gloves etc for washing and scrubbing or gardening and am paying the price now. Skin lacks elasticity, is wrinkly and I have the dreaded age spots starting ( I am 52)

I don't like that hemp one from Body shop or Neutrogena Norwegian Formula

Does anyone have one to recommend please? Don't want to go down the Madonna-with-gloves route

Put some make up on the backs of you hands if you are going somewhere it matters. Obviously it could rub onto your clothes so I wouldn't do it all the time.

An emergency skin softener is vegetable oil mixed with sugar - rub with hands and then rinse off but beware - it is very abrasive and you can end up with bright pink hands.

Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream, either the regular balm or the hand specific one. Failing that, lidl does a really good one, I think it's called intensive moisture

Creme de la mer hand cream is fab and i use every day and it lasts me six months.

Either kheils intensive one or organic surge gardeners hand cream. Both very good.

Use these www.lakeland.co.uk/p21178/Deluxe-Moisturising-Gloves and/or surecare washing up liquid. I keep handcream is every room of the house to use whenever I feel like it. And always use after washing my hands. Prevention rather than cure :)

Garnier skin repair red tube is really good if applied regularly. Would also recommend the aveeno hand cream. I put either on religiously every night now and this is the first year I've avoided winter hands (cracked round finger tips etc).

Dc3 is 14mo, so I'm still in the nappy changing, lots of hand washing phase, and I really would say these are good at protecting, also at repairing, but it might take a week of regular application through the day and over night to see improvements.

If money no object, I love clarins but I've only used it when received as a gift.

I've also used a Nivea skin repair type one which was ok.

Flexitol on your hands before bed - the foot stuff. I read it on here last week and I am a convert. I am a veteran of hand cream as I am an eczema sufferer. It's made a real difference to how my hands look.

Second the kiehls intensive, I put on just before you go to sleep and it works wonders on me. It also keeps my eczema at bay as a bonus! You need the one that says for hands that are subjected to industrial chemicals or something along those lines!

Shame you don't like the hemp one or the Neutrogena, I find those two the most effective.

Aveeno with the blue lid. green lid is good but not as good as blue lid.

soothes on contact and sinks in immediately. sometimes dh and i get raw cracked hands and we both love it.

its about £6 a tube but in the supermarkets, it can often be found with 1/3rd off and then stock up.

The Clarins hand cream is the best I've tried.

Clarina v nice for normal hand cream, but best for actual serious chapped hands is Lotil cream - boots does it. Cheap as chips, really works.

If I am feeling flush, Clarins. Pauper, Nivea Q10. In fact now I've trained DHs family to give me handcream for Xmas. I get L'pccitaine which is good and smells nice from them - v generous. Always have on on desk, in handbag etc

E45 hand cream is good and they also do an overnight one that works well too.

L'occittan (sp?) 20% Shea Butter is the best ever.

Nivea Q10 is very good. It's cheap so I have tubes of it everywhere, I put it on 6-7 times a day, my hands are silky soft! Also, wear rubber gloves for all housework related activities

Brilliant, thank you all. Will give some of these a whirl. I am going for my first ever manicure today as I have been following the 'how to look expensive' and have devises to make a bit of an effort instead of wandering round like Hagrid!

Burts Bees almond one, very thick though but does the job
